    The same is happening across Lemmy. I have had many posts deleted from lemmy for allegedly breaking the rules, when they do not, not really. Power hungry mods seem to be a human attribute, not a reddit attribute. And, on lemmy, we should be doing more to stop that. I find that lemmy.world has tons of power hungry mods, such as those in pics and asklemmy.

    This is an example of such a removal: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/77781886. It had 40 comments. Removed by a mod without any reasoning explained. I had to look into the modlog to find a reason. The reasoning was “not a quest, just a rambling” (paraphrased). No, it was a question, you can see the question mark there. And more important than that, it was getting the community to engage, it had 40 comments.

      Power hungry mods is one thing, reddit gave us powermods - coordinated moderators who push an agenda. Reddit admin supported powermods in the takeover of many subreddits shortly after they pushed through the API change that killed 3rd party apps.

      Allegedly, Ghislaine Maxwell was a powermod in r/worldnews - and it would make sense for Epstein’s associates to be among that number, given that Trump’s main base started in 4chan (on /pol/, created after Epstein met 4chan’s founder) and found its way through to the mainstream via reddit and r/the_donald.

      But the solution to powertripping mods is the same here as on reddit: make a new community, with blackjack and hookers. Arguably this is even easier here as you can make the same community name on a different instance.

    I got banned for saying that child predators deserve to be incarcerated forever and that Nazis only reason for existence is to be target practice.

    I still stand by both of these things and I hope my grandparents who fought against the Nazis are proud of me.

      Bruce Banner is white, but he is not Hulk. Hulk is an independent entity from the other side of The Green Door that leads to the gamma reality and Bruce Banner became his conduit when blasted with grammar radiation. Hulk existed long before Banner. Hulk is green.

      Source: Am nerd, and also a huge Donny Cates fan. His Venom run is top drawer, I tell you. TOP. DRAWER. Seriously, though, it’s so good and did the characters of both Eddie and Venom so much so long overdue justice.

      Edit: There are also multiple different Hulks (technically the same psyche, but different manifestations) that can manifest through Bruce, so while Savage (classic/true) Hulk is green, Hulk, as an entity, can also be Grey, or a slightly different green with better hair and verbal skills, or a fuck-you-scary-demon-dad-thing, among others.

            You typed out five other words, but I’ll give you some slack, this is the written/typed word and you gave no outline of how that works for you, so I’ll assume it’s just a verbal limitation, for now.

            However, if you’re not saying “Muigi Langioni, Muigi Langioni Muigi Langione Muigi Langioni, Muigi Langioni Muigi” like it’s that scene from Being John Malkovich every time you speak, and I catch wind of it, I’m going to hunt you down and fucking kill you for being a gods damned liar.

          Years ago - back when reddit was supposedly “good” in the days before Trump I got banned from AITAH for swearing because curse words are “violence.” Reddit has always been ridiculous trash.

        I got banned for one of those “How to kill orphan after parent is dead” jokes in a programming sub.

        Which… the whole joke is that without context it looks awful. But also. Did the bot think I was sincerely asking…? I killed the parents but I needed Reddit’s help on the next steps.

          LLMs do a lot of the moderation now. So people get instabanned for anything that can be taken out of context as violent. Which is dumb because that’s a boat load of expression. It’s basically a nanny like tik-tok.

    Man if I was a reddit mod I would be fucking up so much shit. I would be such a bad mod intentionally and just start blaming it on reddits automod and just trying to piss off as much people as possible. I’d want it to end up on subreddit drama and people to make a 5k comment thread arguing about how shit reddit is before mods lock it down.

    Its not even like they destroy the subreddit they just give it to the first person that asks. And sure you’re a dick and people dislike that, but that’s your role in the moment. I forgot the subreddit but you can go there and admins just hand out access to 2-3 people at a time. They check in on progress for a week or two and then are out. 90% of the time the other people don’t do Jack shit and will be to ashamed to show up again after not doing anything so its basicially your subreddit. I think I was a mod in 4 sub’s all less than 350k and never did anything and regret it now that I’m banned.

    So if you guys wanted you could slowly infiltrate a bunch of low level sub’s and just fuck with reddit for the hell of it.

        That’s the one. Anyone with a pulse can get one, its almost like its first come first serve. Also they make you write some bullshit “about me” thing. Just make up what ever sounds right and say how much you love that subreddit etc.

          I like hearing socialist and communist viewpoints to pop my American echo chamber bubble. When all I hear in Florida is how communists crave the destruction of the US and the death of all its people and anyone who disagrees is labeled a communist, you’re not going to have an educated stance on the matter.

          I started my Fediverse journey excited to read their federated posts. I think it was signing up for Lemmy that I was forced to read more Marx than I’d read before, not to mention recently (re-)reading Animal Farm, and now I have more compassion for Marxists than I did before.

          I’m gradually learning .ml doesn’t federate with others to give a voice to Marxist(-Leninists) who want to interact with others civilly.

          I once dared to mention liberals tend to agree soviet bloc housing was one of the things the USSR did right. I was dogpiled and eventually labeled a troll and banned for a while.

          I once dared to say I didn’t realize Xinnie the Pooh memes could be racist. I was dogpiled and eventually accused of being orientalist and a fascist and banned for a while.

          Now any time I bump into an .ml, they check my mod log on .ml and go on a rant about how I’m a racist and a fascist, stating they have no need to read why I was accused of that because they’re sure their mods/admins are above reproach. I certainly can’t disprove an accusation that requires no evidence - no one can.

          I figure either they’re a community of people pretending to be Marxist-Leninist to make people have a bad opinion of Marxist-Leninists…

          …or (Fediverse) Marxist-Leninists are yet another group of humans who employ bad faith tactics to attack anyone who isn’t them for funsies.

          So they earn quite a bit of hate from the rest of the Fediverse and weaken most people’s opinions of Marxist-Leninists; they’ve certainly eroded mine.

              Unfortunately they nuked the thread, potentially to obscure the evidence. I can’t even tell exactly where the discussion was because of that, but that was the thread.

              I was wrong, the thread wasn’t nuked; I can’t see it because since then I’ve blocked most of the participants for reasons not directly related to that thread (they are some of the bigger bad faith participants in that community/instance).

              The TL;DR of it:

              Everyone there was dog-piling someone for posting a Xinnie the Pooh meme for being racist.

              I asked how that could be racist. (many downvotes)

              I got dogpiled by a bunch of people who explained that because Winnie the Pooh’s skin is yellow, it’s occidentalist (a word I learned that day) - some going so far as to say any criticism of China, the CCP, or Xi Xinping is rooted in racism. I explained why I didn’t think any of that is automatically racist, but agreed it could be depending on intent. They said “being anti-communist and being racist tend to have much overlap.” They did some poking and prodding and assuming as far as why I’m anti-CCP, and then the thread devolved into Uighur genocide denial.

              They then removed all my comments and banned me.

          Nah. The mods in some places on lemmy are absolutely nuts. Ml, hexbear, and those other weird places that are Pro Russia.

          I said something was fishy, a normal english phrase meaning peculiar, and they said it was racism and a slur.
