  • Something rather cringe and obnoxious in hindsight was the over use of the word “ocd” It was quite common in media and in my circles for somebody to say “I’m so ocd” when referring to some perfectly normal thing they do like tidying bookcases and organising things.

It’s pretty cringy now and I’d never say it now. I feel bad for saying it… but hey personal growth I guess. I was in school/college at the time too so it was a long time ago. There were a lot of things that were common at school that I used to say that are definitely not pc nowadays and I accept that. I don’t pretend to be a perfect and morally righteous invidual. I have flaws as much as the next person

  • At the time I signed up Lemmy.World was pretty small, I just wanted an instance that wasn’t .ml and had better policies… As it turned out the modlog is very transparent and they were deleting posts critical of the CCP/Russia. So I left and made an account on World.

It seems World was a good choice… Although now that it struggles with the amount of users it seems it might be worth setting an alt up on another instance just to help me out when it gets too busy over here.

  • A lot to do with product quality in general. Overtime they look at ways to cut costs and maximise profits.

It always reminds me of the Aero Mint chocolate, going from something very tasty to greasy and definitely not as good as it used to be. A lot of products have gone that way. They have attempted many times to change the recipe of coke with some success here and there. In a way to bring the cost of manufacturing down. I don’t see social media as something any different.

Twitter has lost a majority of its work force for good and bad reasons. As well as lost a lot of features that cost them money to make it profitable.

I really do see it happening post 2008 recession in a lot of countries. Companies in general are also getting more involved in digital media the kind of people who don’t care about that medium. They just want to make money. Before that point not many people knew much about it they just saw that shareholders loved tech firms after the boom.
