Oh it was needed here, but activly pushed into clown world numbers of inefficientcies. We have had cars that are very good on gas, now we have cars that say they are good on gas but use 3x what a car from the past would do. Its all marketing over function now and our auto industry is effectively dead due to it, people are (shocker) not buying enough $100,000 trucks that cost $10 in gas to go to the store.
