Is “USian” supposed to be a pejorative? I’ve only seen it used on lemmy, usually in lemmy.ml communities.
No, just a way to avoid using American for a denizen of the US. In my native tongue it means “of the Americas”, and I dislike them too much to let them have the word.
i don’t think it’s a pejorative by itself; it’s just a way to uncouple “American” from “United States of America”, since “American” technically applies to all countries in central, north and south america.
it’s more granular and easier to type i guess, though i don’t use it…
