Here in Australia, he only ever had 1 song. The only reason anyone even remembers who he is, is because Trump pushed him…

No idea why anyone would get music advice from Trump… I’d send MAGA over to: https://lemmy.world/c/music (it would blow their minds), but, I’m concerned they’d ruin it

He was a mediocre singer who started on the path to home base and pretends to be a poor person who grew up in a trailer park. His music is crap and I’m glad he’s getting the reception he so rightly desrves.

“Now I’m a rich person. I live in one hell of a house,” he admitted. “I don’t suck, because I know that money isn’t what freakin’ matters the most. It’s the fight, it’s the cause, it’s helping people.”

Who does he imagine “Freedom Fest” is helping?

    Kid Rock makes music for…

    • guys who know exactly how much Sudafed you can buy at one time

    • men who know the routes to their favorite bars which don’t go within 1500 ft of playgrounds and elementary schools

    • people who have the numbers of at least 2 P.O.s and bail bondsman saved in their cell

    • guys whose nieces aren’t allowed to be around them unattended

    • women whose dating profile says “ready to settle down” because they realized they’re not getting picked up at bars anymore

    • guys who think the stripper is actually into them

    • men who take cash jobs just so they don’t have to pay alimony or child support

    • women who poke holes in condoms to try and extend the relationship

    • dudes who steal cardboard cutouts of scantily clad women from the beer store and proudly display them at home

    • women who drop their kids off at Chuck E Cheese because they consider it a free babysitter

    • people who how how much you can get for a stolen catalytic converter

    • guys who can see their kids every other weekend, but don’t

    • women who go to bars in leopard print and try to pick up guys by saying “Hey hon…”

    • men whose 1 shirt and pants combo without a cigarette burn is “nice” outfit they wear to court

    Writes in notebook:

    • it’s super hard to build a festival around a one-hit wonder from 40 years ago, especially when that person is a fascist shill

There! A few more pearls of wisdom like that and I will be ready to make it in the music business!

Everytime I get excited about not going to a Kid Rock concert it gets canceled before I even have a chance to not go.

Let it happen in silence. Like donating time / money / or anything else to help those in need. Don’t need to call out you’re being a good person, just be a good person. Do the right thing and let him pass silently into obscurity.

Sometimes it’s good to spread this kind of negative publicity, especially where positive action is needed for the person in question to succeed.

I agree. But only because I understand that the world in which I grew up is gone. The level of being able to profit off of and market oneself off of being a complete fucking loser and failure is too damn high.

I wish we could just point and laugh at awful people having funny things happen to them without them remaining relevant because of it. The fucking attention economy is awful.

Sort of a strange analogy to me because raising awareness is actually a very important part of charity.

The world has changed, or reverted back to a period where fascists will support each other to insulate the most at risk through their own “charity” to try to mitigate the dying or regression of their movement. You have to learn what their tactics are and respond accordingly, which in today’s case is to ignore them instead of point and laugh. There will soon be a time for that, too.

Okay, I’m not going to refute any of that. Taking your comment at face value still makes the original a strange analogy, because raising awareness is important for charity. You shouldn’t do charity in silence, is my point more than anything.

I’m not sure you’re understanding who is doing the charity - we’re talking about the fascists doing charity for each other in this case. They’re literally fund raising for each other when they are going viral, it’s like anti cancel culture in their minds. So by raising awareness, you’re literally helping them. Raise awareness of fascist tactics, of bad and deadly policy, of prosecutions, demand local leaders take action, but stop posting social media posts and comments and that just bring attention to individual fascists you don’t like, because that’s just helping them. If you need to report them to authorities, just do that.

I don’t think you’re understanding me. I’m talking about the original comment. They said:

Like donating time / money / or anything else to help those in need. Don’t need to call out you’re being a good person, just be a good person.

This is the strange analogy part, to me, as you should not do these things quietly. Raising awareness is an important part of partaking in charity.

Let Kid Rock become obsolete in silence -> This part I agree with.

Don’t raise awareness about other acts of charity -> This part I don’t agree with.

It’s just so weird that there’s people that like him and his music. It’s really hard to imagine but they genuinely exist. And you wonder how that’s even possible and you want to meet one to study them, try get an understanding, just general curiosity. Is it a mental thing? A social one? Trauma? What’s happening in their brain where they hear the music and think, “This is really good. It is a favourite thing. In no way is this person a walking meme. They are very cool. I will pay money for this.”
