Carney reportedly seeks ‘associate’ EU membership as Ottawa-Washington ties hit fresh low. He will address the European Parliament next week.
There are some massive doses of copium being taken in the comments.
Trump really is bringing the world together.
and he’s been more effective at getting the world off fossil fuels than any carbon tax.
Canada borders Denmark and France so it should be more than an associate status. The further from the sinking ship that is america the better, lest we get pulled down in their wake.
What do you mean by “Canada borders Denmark and France”?
There is an island in the north east part of Canada whose ownership was disputed by Denmark. Over the last few decades there has been “friendly” invasions where Canada took down Denmark’s flag and replaced it with their own. Then Denmark would do the same thing to Canada. This went back and forth over time, usually involving leaving some whiskey for the next changeover. It is now a shared island between them. In the south east part of Canada there is a little island mixed in with all the other eastern Canadian islands that belongs to France. This is from my memory, the internet knows the specifics for sure.
St. Pierre and Miquelon are the French islands just off the coast of Newfoundland. There is a short ferry ride between them. Complicated history, but basically the French got to keep them after ceding French Canada to Britain (though control swapped back and forth a bit). They territory is EU-ish: non-Schengen, but they do use the Euro and residents have EU citizenship.
Nope you’ve summarized the boarder situation between Canada and Denmark, and France.
Be welcome!
just wait until US states begin applying for EU membership.
“Bon jewer…je voo entray le Yurrup.”
And they will be welcomed.
If Canada would join the EEA, that would certainly make my job-hunting much easier. Even if it increased the pool, the country I’m targeting general requires B2 proficiency in their language + English which should buy some time.
I always felt closer to the EU (well probably more when UK was a member) as a Canadian. Probably lots of my household words while growing up were British (for example thong, foot beachwear vs underwear)than say American English.
I hope we get a closer tie with them regardless, we are a relatively small country by gdp and population compared to many and I don’t want to deal with Nazis like it’s the 1940s. I played enough stealth games, not my thing. But damn right I’ll do what I can for my country even at this age, so best I can hope for is being a part of the resistance I assume but hope it doesn’t come to that.

Because most of Canada is immigrants from Europe and we don’t force people to drop their ethnic heritage to a melting pot shit culture like the USA.

That’s Aussie, thong means the underwear in Britain
Cool. We should absolutely disentangle the US-Canadian nonsense.
please, Australia next
UK and Turkey want a word.
How’s that? UK left and with the shit Turkey pulled on Sweden and Finland joining NATO they’re never getting in.
Turkey is an EU liability.
Turkeys a dictatorship, it’s at least 2 generations from even being considered
I hope that word is “shotgun” because "get in, losers. We’re gonna be a team now "
