      hell is easy. in hell you know you’re still “alive” because of the suffering.

      as an atheist I hope his final moments were filled with the same regret and despair he gave to hundreds of thousands, and then as the dark shroud of nothingness enveloped his consciousness I hope he realized that none of it was worth it. I hope he begged and pleaded to take it all back until he faded out of existence for eternity.

          as long as the hippocampus remains, memory and self awareness can continue to exist.

          it’s one of the last parts of your brain that shuts down when you die.

            those bits are still going under anesthetic and while asleep and yet I don’t actively experience time and thought and have no memory of anything during that period.

            I think death is just death. Even if you’re dying slowly you probably don’t know it’s happening when it does, just like I don’t remember the 10 seconds before I fall asleep

              Remembering and knowing it happens is different. By definition you won’t remember dying because you’re dead. But experiencing/knowing it happens in the moment is a different question.

      Why would you be called a tankie? It’s a term used by basically all kinds of communists and socialists, from anarchists to eurocommunists (not tankies) to Maoists (tankies).

        Because I’m quoting Engels, one of the grandfathers of the Communist movement.

        It’s a term used by basically all kinds of communists and socialists, from anarchists to eurocommunists (not tankies) to Maoists (tankies).

        It always gets me when people attach Mao to the phrase “Tankie”, when - at best - you’re trying to describe Deng and getting your historical wires crossed. Of all the historical communist leaders, Mao was the least reliant on mobile armored artillery. Euro-Communists, on the other hand… Real, Actual, Literal Tankies.

        People are so clueless as to the history of the term that they’ll slap it on anyone. That’s why I think some shitposter on a 3rd-tier social media site will get labeled as a 50s-era military officer. The term is pure invective. If it ever meant anything when it was coined, it’s descended into pure reactionary gibberish in the modern day.

    I keep telling myself she was ill. She likely did not have much time left, but UHC made my mother’s life hell for her last few weeks. They denied or delayed care she needed while in the hospital. She complained about stomach pain, but tests and treatment were denied as unrelated to her care in the hospital. She died from an intestinal tear. She died in the hospital from something she directly told the staff about, that insurance would not let them even test for. As I said before, she might not have had much more time left, but United AI denied her care to the point that they no longer needed to cover her at all. Brian Thompson murdered my mother.

    Luigi didn’t kill him, Luigi was playing videogames with me.

    Unfortunately the claim denials have only increased, meaning Luigi just added 1 to the pile with no tangible results.

      He definitely saved some lives for a bit after when they were scared to auto-deny everything, so he did a net positive.

    Its a shame the bullet that killed the guy didnt kill his wife and children as well. They should have died from grief.
