    didnt he get shot in the back of head? sadly he probably died before even realized what was going on

      as long as the hippocampus remains, memory and self awareness can continue to exist.

      it’s one of the last parts of your brain that shuts down when you die.

        those bits are still going under anesthetic and while asleep and yet I don’t actively experience time and thought and have no memory of anything during that period.

        I think death is just death. Even if you’re dying slowly you probably don’t know it’s happening when it does, just like I don’t remember the 10 seconds before I fall asleep

          Remembering and knowing it happens is different. By definition you won’t remember dying because you’re dead. But experiencing/knowing it happens in the moment is a different question.
