Random thoughts

It could have more to do with your middle bit of the sentence you uttered? “…or on that guys d…” It was probably just an off the cuff phase for you, but directed to the only lady in the group it could come off as you admitting you had feelings about her and now that you see her with another dude that you don’t have a chance and are throwing a tantrum bc you can’t be with her. That can seem like a betrayal of what she thought was truly just a really good friendship was instead you just scheming longterm to get with her. That’s not just a loss of good friend, but also causes a questioning of every prior encounter.

Other options include her assuming you were shaming her for her choice in men (real or imagined), or that you essentially said you don’t care about her regardless of what she does (right now or ever). It could also be her thinking this was your true self since you were so drunk, rather than this is the drunkest you’ve ever been and your grasping at any phrase to help the person understand your literal room spinning point of view. Not saying any of this is the answer as to why she ended the friendship. Simply giving a few alternatives to consider that might be more in the broken ceramic plate territory.

Adding on to that thought- You can also try something similar with cardboard. Layer glue and cardboard to get to size and then carve it down as needed. It’s pretty solid and can hold quite a bit of weight.

You may consider becoming part of the Big Brother/Big Sisters club (if in the US). That way you can be a good presence in their life without having to commit to parenting 24/7. Bigs are not replacement parents, but rather someone to be a good friend to the child/Little, spending one on one time with them, being a good role model in their lives, and giving them/guiding them through new experiences with a trusted and safe adult. My understanding is that all the Littles in the program have lost one or more of their parents. Anyway, it’s something to consider being part of if you ever want to scratch that itch.

There has been a decline in third places. There was a decline before the pandemic but the pandemic made it worse. Here’s an article about the decline in America specifically and the newer ways people are trying to connect. It’s not laziness per se. It about the barrier for entry being too high. If they wanted to enter (as you did) they would find a way (as you have). However most people have other higher priorities and don’t really know if they want to enter so they do nothing. If the entry barrier is lowered (maybe by adding helpful pic/vid explaining how it works/where to go, a platform walk-through, people/celebs/influencers talking about their experiences, simple sign up requirements, easy searching, etc.) many more people would easily come in as it’s wouldn’t be as confusing to join.

Believe others when they tell you who they are and then shift your behavior accordingly.
