

The backstory is important though. I trust science because I understand and endorse its methods of determining truth.
That doesn’t mean every scientific claim is true. But it does mean it’s the best approximation of the truth that we as humans have come up with.
It’s still good to be reasonably skeptical of scientific claims. But that skepticism needs to be approached with an open mind. Skepticism with a predetermined belief at its terminus is not true skepticism. It’s just another form of blind faith.























Flying is the hardest one. Most other individual carbon emissions can be avoided or greatly reduced with some planning and effort these days. But unless you live somewhere that has really developed HSR flying is the only really viable method for long-distance travel. Even more so if you need to cross an ocean.
My whole family which I rarely see is gathering soon and my guilt over taking an unnecessary flight and my guilt at not spending time with my family are at war. Haven’t come to any decision yet.
