Never in my life have I actually lost a cap, but I have been splashed in the face multiple times by those idiotic attached caps.
Me neither.
That said, up until they changed it, those metal flaps for opening beverage cans were a serious problem, and I could imagine that many consumers are less considerate than me wrt plastic caps as well.
It’s just a small part of the ongoing enshittification of real life products, and this one’s well-intentioned at least.

Orginially they were ripp-off caps. I find these literally everywhere while metal detecting…
No. I’m just old enough to remember that they did change for very similar reasons.
