I had never heard of Isaac Slade until a month or so ago. The Fray are currently touring and did a show near me, at Woodinville’s Chateau Ste-Michelle Winery. As a venue, they’re not getting arena-filling acts, but they’re usually bands/artists who had several hits a few years back, and will appeal to a 40+ year-old audience. This year’s lineup included Beck, Tori Amos, and Sarah McLachlan. The Fray was one of the weaker bands in the lineup, as evidenced by the number of emails I received telling me that tickets were still available.

Meanwhile, Isaac Slade happens to be somewhat local. Following The Fray’s show, he put on his own rival show – at the Kirkland Performance Center, a small community theater. I’m on their mailing list, because I took my daughter there to see the Amazing Bubble Man (a guy who blows bubbles – to be fair, it is pretty cool).

Hopefully that provides context on where Isaac Slade is as a celebrity.

“That bonfire in the middle of the field that sees both sides, that understands that peace is not a lack of conflict. Peace is not a blank canvas that we need to guard and be polite. [Peace] holds enough beauty, enough tragedy, enough sorrow, enough joy and life if we learn how to integrate it and hold each other in balance. We will find a way through this together.”

What hell is this even meant to mean?!

True conflict free peace might just be impossible, wars in the middle east are nothing new, but putting your fingers in your ears screaming lalala over the sound of innocent people dying in a genocide is not peace dude.

According to the song, it’s by praying to and accepting God. So. Makes sense when they’re trying to bring on Armageddon in a holy war to claim the holy land of Israel.

Seems like they picked their side (which we all already knew)

These people don’t make art, they sell a product. Just like AI doesn’t make art and just regurgitates what you probabilistically want to hear.

      Sheeran’s lyrics in Eraser:

I used to think that nothin’ could be better than touring the world with my songs I chased the pictured perfect life, I think they painted it wrong I think that money is the root of all evil and fame is hell

      Uh huh, sure buddy.

Or Sheeran in You Need Me, I Don’t Need You (ironic song title when talking about Robert Kraft, eh?)

See, I’m true, my songs are where my heart is I’m like glue, I stick to other artists I’m not you, now, that would be disastrous Let me sing and do my thing and move to greener pastures See, I’m real, I do it all, it’s all me I’m not fake, don’t ever call me lazy

Macklemore would say otherwise I think. And we would too.

They sell a product, they don’t create art.

Besides the fact that he’s just another idiot garbage Christian who doesn’t even know his own book. “The love of money is the root of all evil” … not the money, but the greed

I mean, it’s your choice but he’s a past member of The Fray. I can’t imagine the band has anything to do with his current views…

According to wikipedia, this guy was the lead vocalist for the entire time the Fray was relevant (2002–2022), so I assume anyone who did listen to them would strongly associate them with this guy.

But yeah, if anyone is just now finding out about them from their new material, this guy is irrelevant.

So we’re all going to hate Issac Slade for not caring about Ed Sheerans opinions right? I just wanna stay ahead of the hate wagon so I fit in with the echo chamber.

Edit: Crap am I not supposed to ask thar? I’m so stupid, I should of just assumed. But now I have all the down votes from the echo chamber for the answer. Thanks! Keep down voting so I really get the point though.

Standing in solidarity with others against genocide and billionaires silencing artist that dare to speak out - that’s not an echo chamber mate.

You got downvoted for being an idiot. Not for “just asking questions”.

I have this user tagged as toxic as of a few months ago. They’re one of about five I’ve tagged so as to know to expect a firehose of bullshit. I also have cool people tagged, but that list is much longer :)

Sure why not, I’ve never even heard of him, I can only assume his music is as monotonous as Ed Sheeran’s and the only actions of his that I know of will definitely form the basis of my opinion.
