It was covered by another bedsheet, but because the cover folded in itself that was much harder to untangle and I had to turn a drier again. It took more time to post it here though ;)
We call it the “butthole of doom” when the sheets tangle into a single point.

I hate this so much. I’ve read that putting fitted sheets into garment bags makes them less likely to tangle
I stopped using fitted sheets. I hate this and folding them too. Instead I use the next size bigger top sheet for a bottom sheet.
That sounds even more annoying because it has to constantly get out of position and need fixing.
It tucks enough fabric underneath that it stays all week using “hospital corners”.
I saw someone comment using suspenders under the bed with regular sheets. Don’t remember what the parent post was but somehow it came up.
Yeah, you can get small elastic bands with clips on them just for this purpose.
I just pull the duvet cover off the blanket, leave it inside out, and button up the closures. Never had any issues after that.
Garmet bag for the sheets, though.
Get laundry bags. Problem solved.
It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just that I don’t understand how it works when it’s a godsdamned fitted sheet. Does it have to do with processing the linen before drying or is it just the bag taking the friction and static of the drum?
Tie them into a loose knot to stop this from happening. Same for fitted sheets. Not too tight or they won’t dry but it works if you get it right.
Got a new drier that has a “bedding” setting that stops this happening, has saved me about seven seconds already!
Sounds good, but no new drier until I will start to find parts of my current one in the laundry ;)

It does change direction while spinning, though not sure if there’s an algorithm to it or it’s random. It’s also a heat pump drier so not sure what else that impacts other than the electricity bill literally paying for the machine every 8-12 months in savings. The manual claims the bedding setting also thoroughly and efficiently dries bedding materials all the way through and only stops when they are dry enough to put directly into storage
They do that. That’s why I dry the sheets and blankets separately. Bonus: they dry faster also.
Yeah, our dryer lines to do that too. That’s probably the Intelligence the marketing spoke of.
I’ve had some luck folding things into quarters before washing/drying. It works 4/5 of the time, and is only slightly less miserable than the damp fabric sphere

I’m always amused at how seemingly universal a lot of our minor troubles in life are. Comisseration in shared agony. lol
This reminds me of my wife’s and daughters bra pads.
More than once I have seen one of the pads migrate to the other cup and end up with two stuffed in one side.
I can’t even wrap my head around how they can even get out of that small hole, but to then both pack it in on the other side?
