Just another scheme to make the rich richer. Whatever “benefits to humanity” they propose are all bullshit.
True. But without the rich doing stuff like this, it never gets done. Sad, but it’s the way things are.
They’re doing it on the cost of us all and for their sole profit

So who else is gonna step up and do it then? I don’t see anyone volunteering
Thing is, they are getting money from the state for the risk, we’re all paying into
If they fail, they are getting a bailout from the state, which we’re all paying for
But then they push politics into less money for education and minorities, because they have enough - as they never really risked their own money
I’m for a grassroot revolution to build up a non profit industry for basic goods - any profits getting invested into making stuff either cheaper by automation or better
By now we shouldn’t need to work to feed ourselves
And then we need the invest into education to do the same thing with moonshot missions like those

But if the world worked the way you think it should, then we’d have less problems. But the world doesn’t work like that, nor has it ever worked like that. So as of now, this is our best shot. Science sometimes follows profit.
In order for that to change, society would have to change. And brother, that’s not going to happen. But I admire your dream!
That’s a problem of society and can change with it, not some fundamental law of the world.
Yes, I’m a naive utopist, but I think it’s worth to take steps in that direction - and not just disregard it as unrealistic.
Monarchies also fell, and at that time nobody would have thought it’s possible to have democracy
