Epic but Robinhood men in tights is better.
Because unlike other Robin Hoods, he can speak with an english accent.
facts.
“Why a spoon, cousin?”
“Because it will hurt more!”
Michael Wincott and Alan Rickman chewing the living fuck out of the script is a sight to behold.
Absolutely Rickman visibly enjoys roles where he can just be unhinged and I so very much enjoy watching him in all his roles.
it’s a pity he never played Valmont on film - seems like the ultimate Alan Rickman character in many ways
Rickman with blonde hair? Hum… didn’t really work for me when he was Loki.
Rickman played that role on stage and was widely celebrated. But then he got screwed because he wasn’t a movie star - so the role went to Malkovich in the screen adaptation. Too bad we never got a full video recording of the play.
“And cancel Christmas!”
Rickman is the real Prince of Thieves - he steals every movie he’s in.

Should’ve played Robin Hood though.
The movie can get trashed all day, every day. I still love it. It’s a beautiful mess.
Same, every time I see it I’m transported back to the summer in high school when I saw it in the theater at the mall with friends. So much damn fun that even Costner’s dumbass accent couldn’t ruin it.
it’s fun and when Costner actually stops trying and starts doing the Erroll Flynn it is even clicks for a bit. Rickman and Wincott are fucking delight. So much scenery chewing.
One of my favorite recurring nightmares involved being kidnapped by him. Then we formed a team and fought crime. Dreams are weird okay
it would’ve been funny if Alan Rickman played the Sheriff from that Robin Hood project that had Sheriff and Robin Hood being one person. Rickman could’ve pulled it off like a motherfucker. But nah, Ridley Scott just did Gladiator in Medieval England.
This version was better lol
What makes you different from all the other Robin Hoods?
Unlike them, I can speak in a British accent!
It’s a comedy movie.
facts
I haven’t seen the movie but could he possibly have been the bad guy in this movie? I don’t know how i get this impression, though.
The sheriff in any Robin Hood is a Bad Guy©
The sheriff
in any Robin Hoodis a Bad Guy©ASAB
he has a point though.
Aka, Dances with Wolvesheads.
Costner would’ve been less out of place if that movie was a Connecticut Yankee adaptation.
What a bad, bad Chad.
the baddest
Indeed, he was.
Was Jeremy Irons not available?
I think it was around the time he was filming M. Buttefly with Cronenberg. Back in the day Irons tried to avoid his fellow British actors tendency of working on genre films - folks like Sands and Payne eventually settled into villain typecasting. Rickman didn’t gave a shit and just knocked it out of the park all the time.
