You’re so blinded by surface-level bullshit you ignore how they pick your damn pocket. You’re missing the forest for the trees.
Yes, because having our president and the party behind them murder, torture, rape, steal and blackmail people is surface level. The republican party is behind him and won’t do anything about it.
Yes, boo, Republicans are evil shits. No one is saying otherwise.
Yet you still ignore all the things the Democrats do to oppress the people for the benefit of the owning-class and their empire. You think the American government didn’t do those things (aside from the rape, possibly) as well under Obama? Are you that fucking naive?
Or did we just forget about how Obama escalated drone strikes and JSOC raids beyond what Bush was doing prior, which resulted in a disproportionate number of civilian casualties? Or the bullshit with the Espionage Act to go after whistleblower and journalists that he straight up fucking lied about yet was exposed by Snowden leaking information from the NSA? All the fucking corporate bailouts at the end of his term, such as the $1 Billion bailout for Black Stone? His support of Israeli Zionism and their apartheid of Palestine? Reneging on closing Guantanamo? His aid to the Saudis in their campaign against Yemen? How about all the tax breaks for the rich he signed off on in 09? And that’s not even scratching the surface.
Like holy fuck, open your eyes and quit missing the forest for the trees. Both parties are still in service of capitalist imperialism. Both parties are still your enemy even if one is more your enemy than the other.
They kind of are, by painting them as the exact same and not noting the very real differences between them you are in a sense defending the Republican party.
Especially in the context of this conversation.
That’s not to say that the political system doesn’t deserve a level of scrutiny, it most definitely does but the hard reality is that there’s no reform that doesn’t come with participating in it on some level.
I think what weakens the case is that we’ve had a lot of progressive Democrats that have demonstrated real change and to ignore that is not just defending the Republican party but deminishing the very real work by people who want that change.
Democrats aren’t the white knights. They haven’t swept in to fix things. Whenever they’re in power they refuse to move the needle far enough to fix the damage done by Republicans. Look at Obama and Biden; they continued most of the same horrible practices as the Republicans have done.
Republicans are evil and monstrous. Democrats are okay and lack the spine to actually make the change the people want. They’re not the same, but neither is really reflective of the will of the people because the only people they (political parties) listen to are people with money.
That’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy isn’t it? I never meant to make you feel attacked my reasoning is right there and very clear, If that feels like bad faith, I’m not sure how two people with competing beliefs could ever have a discussion

Democrats haven’t done anything meaningful to stop him.
Edit: Instead of just downvoting, how about you prove me wrong. Go ahead. I am genuinely interested to know.
Oh, what have the republicans done? They have a lot of power to do whatever they want. They could even reign him in a little, but no. Last comment.
no one is defending Republicans here

But expecting them to be the white knights without participating in primaries, without doing our part, is what got us here.
Democrats exist on a spectrum between very good and horrible.
no, they’re not.
If you care to expand with any amount of nuance or?
there’s no point. you’re dissembling. I have no reason to believe you’re operating in good faith. no one is defending the Republicans
