Yeah, one of the electricians that was working on my house got a little chummy with me one day several years back and said something about how if he was smart he’d go to Mexico and then cross back into the USA illegally so he could get the free debit card with thousands of dollars in the account that we give to everybody coming into the country at the border.
I said something along the lines of, “You’ll have to enlighten me, what the fuck are you even talking about.”
This man insisted that Biden was giving every single illegal immigrant that crosses the border a debit card worth thousands of dollars.
I said, “And do you honestly believe that?”
His response? “Yes.” Because most of the guys he works with are “Mexicans” and they told him it was true.
They know they are lying.
The TV personalities do. The rabid audience doesn’t.
The audience doesn’t care they’re being lied to. If you show proof it’s a lie, they immediately jump to the next talking point which is usually also a lie.

Words are just a way to get what they want. Truth has no intrinsic value to them. In fact, they enjoy telling obvious falsehoods and getting array with it. It’s a power play. A domination thing.

Depends on who we’re referring to. Their politicians aren’t all stupid. They talk to their base that way because they belive their base is stupid.
I think the strawman argument is that they go to the ER, which typically cannot deny care due to lack of insurance. That in turn makes it “free” for them.
The gotcha here is that all they will do is make sure you’re not actively dying. If you’re well enough to make survive till the next weekday you’re getting a referral and told to GTFO of the ER.

and somehow, Trump deported fewer immigrants last year than Biden did in 2024, and Trump still had to cut SNAP and Medicare/Medicaid just to end up in far more debt!
Let’s see how Mexico’s rollout of universal healthcare works (hoping it does go well for them!) then watch that entire argument fall to pieces once MAGAS realize they’re still losing their homes to medical debt, or going without any affordable drugs or doctors access…
