#25: Star Trek: The Original Series, season 1, episode 23 “A Taste of Armageddon”

Written by Robert Hamner & Gene L. Coon, directed by Joseph Pevney.

Stardates 3192.1 through 3193.0 (October 2267)

“We can admit that we’re killers, but we’re not going to kill today.” - Captain James Kirk

*The Enterprise is ferrying Ambassador Robert Fox (Gene Lyons) to Eminiar VII to open diplomatic relations between them and the United Federation of Planets. Before they arrive, a message is sent to the ship that no one is to approach Eminiar VII under any circumstance. Ambassador Fox overrides Captain Kirk’s command authority and orders the Enterprise to enter orbit anyway. As a precaution, Kirk takes a landing party down to assess the risks and finds a beautiful planet with a prosperous society of peaceful people. They are shown to the leader of the High Council, Anan 7 (David Opatoshu), and told the unbelievable reason why they were warned to stay away; the planet has been engulfed in war with another planet of the system for 500 years."
