It can happen if the tool offers a clear productivity boost.
It can also happen if the competing product does what Figma did. Clone your competitors layout, keyboard commands, workflows, then just add on a bunch of cool new toys.
Jesus@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•‘Because of my Instagram posts?’ AOC swerves questions on 2028 presidential run3·6 hours agoMaybe, but women do win places that have a lot of dumb misogynists. I think the ability to connect with voters, or voters wanting to be associated with someone interesting and cool, has a lot of power.
And at the end of the day, if you look at the folks who are right of center in the US, they’ve elected twice as many women as people of color.
Depends on what do you for a living and what the alternative tool is. If you’re a professional creative that is working in a larger creative team, it’s hard to break free because of workflows, compatibility with oddball features, or you’ve hired people who are know how to fly at warp speed in CS, but are going to slow way down when they have to build muscle memory for a new tool. .

IMHO, Americans will always prioritize swagger, the ability to clearly call bullshit, and the ability to generate hype and a sense of connection.
This is why Americans vote for celebrities and actors.

North America’s residential HVAC landscape is pretty simply and dumb compared to a lot of what is happening in Europe. Dumb forced central air systems dominate residential HVAC.
It sounds like they don’t like developing for all the weird hardware configurations that appear in Europe.

Jesus@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump White House lines lawn with mug shots of illegal immigrants3·4 days agoYeah, he might be trying to do that.
He might also be trying to turn his polling on immigration around. All this shady deportation stuff has pushed him underwater on immigration. Americans were majority positive when it was all about slowing crossings, but they’re not down with deporting documented people, deporting people without judicial review, accusing people of gang crimes because they’re brown and have tattoos, or throwing people into gulags.
Jesus@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump White House lines lawn with mug shots of illegal immigrants15·4 days agoTrump is scared about his polls on immigration and he likely wants whitehouse protesters to protest with this in the background.
A lack of due process has broken through, and he’s freaking out.

I bet the catch, aside from Bezos, is the range or charge speed.
Jesus@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Judge halts parts of Trump’s overhaul of US elections, including proof-of-citizenship requirement15·8 days agoThe only reason people debate whether or not this is an issue is because bad faith actors get conservative media to tell people that this fake problem is real.
The data has never supported their argument, and when you point that out, they fall back to their old counter arguments of a) a couple random cases out of millions, and b) “there must be corruption, because I live in an echo chamber, I only know people who vote like me, and I can’t imagine that my views are not shared by the broader population.”
Yeah, people always mock up these Apple patents. It’s practically guaranteed to happen when Apple files anything interesting or weird. Someone will model what they think the final product looks like.
The rendering is, but the patent isn’t.

Pah-lease
Apple patents all sorts of weird shit. 99% of it never gets made. They just want the money from patent litigation and licensing.
Don’t ask me. I didn’t write it. Wasn’t me.
