Technology@lemmy.world•Claude-powered AI coding agent deletes entire company database in 9 seconds — backups zapped, after Cursor tool powered by Anthropic's Claude goes rogueEnglish
11·3 months agoLike all interesting outages, there are probably multiple key action items.
I’m also curious why deleting a “staging volume” would affect prod. I don’t know Railway, but it seems like a bad architectural design.

Technology@lemmy.world•Palantir employees are talking about company's "descent into fascism"English
8·3 months agoI was recently recruited by Meta, had a bad feeling, did some research, and sure enough, it was was a terrible place to work, by all accounts. I already had doubts about Meta and deleted my Facebook account over a decade ago. Needless to stay I withdrew my candicacy.
Like attracts like. I hope all these people selling their souls and their country out for money to companies like Meta and Palantir, who make money hand over first by actively making society less safe and free, get what’s coming to them.
I would never work for Meta, TikTok, Palantir, etc no matter how much they paid me.
I got used to Celsius while living abroad in Europe and Japan and prefer it to Fahrenheit. The extra granularity of the latter scale doesn’t really add much more utility.
However, while 32 F and 212 F are pretty arbitrary, so is calibrating to the freezing and boiling temperatures of water. I’d rather have a scale that’s calibrated to humans rather than H2O.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Traffic cameras have caught a white RAM 1500 pickup truck driving above the speed limit or running red lights more than 547 times since 2022. It belongs to an NYPD cop.English
5·3 months agoThere are many people in my highly liberal and progressive PNW town that drive trucks. The majority seem to be decent people based on my interactions on the road with them as a pedestrian and cyclist.
I do agree most people don’t need trucks, and it’s more of a performative masculinity thing, or maybe that’s just what they’ve been conditioned to like.
I use a spreadsheet and write down everything I buy and manually categorize into about 8 categories. Simple and effective for keeping me on track w.r.t. my financial goals.

You can use a portable bidet. It’s not as good as a mounted one but still.
