17·3 months agoThose are changes in parent company names though while the services Facebook and Google still exist. The rebrand of Twitter to X continuing to not stick for people is a much bigger failure on their part than Meta and Alphabet not entering the general zeitgeist.

5·5 months agoYeah, if anything, comparing this conservative line of thinking to previously established DEI policies grants it way more validity than it deserves. It’s hard to find the best ways to point out but not normalize their blatant hypocrisy.

15·6 months agoI guess I’m glad somebody on the left is finally reciprocating the populist style memeing necessary to contend with trump and current far right politics. “Fighting fire with fire” would feel a lot better though if our flamethrower supported trans rights, among other things.
Trump won twice not just by being a memelord but by leaning fully into the populism necessary for his base. You can’t achieve a ‘left’ version of that by just meeting him at the meme level. The contending policies have to be so popular that they’re obvious.

diyelectronics@lemmy.ml•This orange wire controls the buzzer for my intercom unit, reckon if I put a resistor between it and the screw it would lower the volume of the buzzer?English
10·8 months agoIt depends if it’s a voltage that’s triggering the speaker via a circuit on that IC, or if it ends up powering the speaker directly, and I’d bet the former. Putting a resistor in series with one of the speaker leads is more likely to achieve what you’re hoping for (without knowing more about the circuit).
Do voices and the buzzer sound come out of the same speaker shown in the picture, or is there a separate little “buzzer” speaker in there?

Houseplants@mander.xyz•Got some new carnivorous plants!English
6·11 months agoI don’t have a ton of experience but I’ve kept Nepenthes pitchers before - the ones I’ve kept are pretty particular to humidity staying up and not getting dry soil. A lot of carnivorous plants also need distilled (or similar) water to stay happy.
That being said, there’s lots of carnivorous species that aren’t tropical or picky! Check out some Saracanea pitcher species if the tropical ones are too much to deal with

1·1 year agoThe Library of Babel by Borges melted my brain as a teenager.

What aspect of it do you think is offered for the cat if it’s an infinitely dripping tap vs being changed regularly? Putting kidney failure on the fault of water quality alone without a source is pretty asinine.
