In 2003 I worked for a small company that was attempting to be an early ebook publisher, before the days of ereaders and smartphones. It was too ahead of its time and closed after our first two publications. One of the books was on an old mining town, and part of my job was doing research and collecting photos and reference materials for the book.

I had the chance to read the diary of a miner from the 1860s. Keeping a diary was one popular hobby, but one thing that stood out to me was how he described a day off he had, it was a Sunday I believe and he spent 6 hours watching a bird and writing down all that it did.

What I gathered is that in the absence of entertainment or chores, humans will find things to fill the void. What seems extremely boring to you or me was very fulfilling to those with no other options.

Actions are absolutely repeatable to a level of precision enough to achieve a desired goal. Hence your ability to type this comment, for musicians to perform music, for athletes to win games, so on and so forth. Repeatable actions are at the center of humanities ability to function.

All actions have variance, but the level of accuracy is only relevant to the prescribed goal. In the example of a basketball, the ball only needs to enter the top of the hoop from a given range of angles, at a range of speeds. As long as you are within this tolerance you will achieve the goal of making a basket. The whole concept of the game relies on this repeatability.

When a person learns to write they must draw a series of shapes. At first the letters are often difficult to read and will make the words they attempt to write unintelligible. As they practice, they refine their motor skills to within a tolerance of legibility. Each letter doesn’t have to be truly identical. Just within the tolerance of the goal.

So the key points here are; tolerance of repeatability is defined by the goal, repeatable actions are ingrained in nearly everything we do, and finally if you think that repeating your position through a series of pedantic semantics, goal post shifting or false premises is going to change the outcome of this argument, that might just be the definition of insanity.

I believe the idea is you would refill the original cartridge. You can get refill ink and a type of syringe to put ink back into the original cartridge. Those have been available for a while.

Imagine you are practicing basketball free throws. The goal of the practice is to get the ball through the hoop.

To be clear the key word is goal, which can be defined as an achievable end result. In this example the ball goes through the hoop or it doesn’t.

If you throw the ball away from the hoop in such a way that it doesn’t even come close to going through the hoop, a reasonable person would say you need to change your actions to get a different result.

However, if you do not change your actions yet you expect the ball to go through the hoop, this is unreasonable and could broadly be seen as “insanity” as a sort of pejorative for a person who may be suffering from mental illness or is simply being unreasonable.

Practice by definition is synonymous with iteration, which is repeating an activity while making changes to affect the result or outcome of that activity.

The statement is about the individual goal not the general activity you’re practicing.

This is a pretty decent comparison. Not everyone can have ASD because then it can’t be classified as a disorder. There is a threshold for being diagnosed just as with vision impairment. Those who are diagnosed are on a spectrum from least debilitating to most.

Imagine if you will a scenario in which a photographer, taking more than one picture of an event in time. And then stretch that imagination a little further that said photographer could release some photos in 2019 and then other photos from the same event 6 years later. Then imagine, just for shits and giggles, that a president has a team of people who are managing public perception.

Just so we’re clear my point is it’s weird, not proof of anything, just really fuckin weird considering this guy’s history.

Such a confusing take. You start by saying they used old photo, which is my point, as they are claiming this photo is proof of life, since he hadn’t been seen in three days.

Then you insinuate I am saying it’s not possible for him to wear the same clothes or ride in the same car as 6 years ago.

Sure it’s possible that this is all coincidence and yep he’s got the same SUV and the same clothes and the photographer had to stand at the same location.

I just think the probability is lower that this is proof that Trump is prancing around golf courses kicking balls closer to holes. Just seems a little odd.

Like the probability that someone gets grazed by a bullet and the wound magically disappeared or that politicians create fake files planting the presidents name in them for 30 years. Sure, could happen…

A man accused of shooting a man in a wheelchair at Seattle’s Pier 55 last month remains in King County Jail on $750,000 bail, with prosecutors pointing to newly obtained video that captured the confrontation, the gunfire, and his arrest.

Seattle police say the incident happened just after 6 p.m. on July 31 in front of the Starbucks at Pier 55, drawing dozens of witnesses and bystanders who recorded the scene from multiple angles.

In the videos, 32-year-old Gregory William Timm is seen confronting Harold James Powell, a musician who regularly performs for donations along the waterfront.

Prosecutors say Timm accused Powell of “stolen valor” — falsely claiming to have served in the military.

Footage shows Timm demanding Powell show military identification before ripping a patch off Powell’s wheelchair.

Moments later, Powell wheels toward Timm and reaches inside his shirt.

Timm then steps back, retrieves a handgun from a zipped bag, points it, and fires once into Powell’s chest.

Witness video shows Timm standing in place for several minutes afterward, telling emergency responders his gun was in his bag.

Police detained him at the scene.

Powell was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Timm opted not to appear in court the following day. A judge found probable cause for assault and robbery.

His attorney has suggested the shooting was an act of self-defense, but King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Casey McNerthney said that argument will be difficult to sustain.

“A key in self-defense cases is who the first aggressor is,” McNerthney said. “If you provoke an attack upon yourself, you lose the right to claim self-defense.”

Court records show Timm made headlines in 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida, when he was charged with aggravated assault for driving a van into a tent where Trump supporterswere gathered, sending several people running.

He was later convicted of the lesser charge of criminal mischief.

Detectives in Seattle have described him as a drifter.

Timm is scheduled to return to court next week, when formal charges could be filed.
