Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Aphantasia... apparently 3% of the world has it. Any aphantasists in here, who've had success improving their condition?
5·2 年前I’m more curious what problems it causes!
But i think i have it or at least closer to it than fully visualization. One thing that helps is to sort of mentally apply the first concept related to something that you think of. So for example, if someone says imagine a cabin, if you would say that a stereotypical cabin has a porch, then just go with it. In my mind if i try to think of a cabin there are so many variables (how many floors, windows, material, roughness, porch vs no, chimney or no, etc) that nothing can materialize in my mind. But if i just pick one of any of those that pop in my head then it feels a bit easier to get a glimpse. Idk if that helps at all 😅
Would a git repo count as a blockchain? It kinda fits your simplified description

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are folks so anti-capitalist?English
28·2 年前Why would 3rd party #2 even try if they just saw 3rd party #1 just get stomped in that way? Why would you start a business, a very expensive endeavour (monetarily, mentally, and temporally), if you knew how and why it would get driven out of business pretty quickly? In the scenario you describe, the pressure is for prices to be higher on average, with dips here and there.

36·2 年前Just chiming in to say that if organizations price fix, it’s pretty rare a 3rd party can sustainably undercut them. The price fixers can agree to drop prices way lower, sell at a loss until the 3rd party is forced to price fix too or go out of business, and then resume the fixed price

162·2 年前To be fair though, some ethical views do have a high ground to others. People against murder have the high ground over people ok with it for example. People against dog fighting or any other form of animal abuse have the high ground over people ok with it.
Any time there’s a victim being harmed, people ok with the injustice have lost the high ground

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who prefer light theme over dark/night theme.. Why?
2·2 年前I think that was where the association was found, but I don’t think anything rules out it persisting into adulthood. I also paid a lot for lasik/smile so I’d like to do anything I can to protect that and not need glasses again

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who prefer light theme over dark/night theme.. Why?
3·2 年前been a while since I watched, but from my fuzzy memory people getting less light in their eyes was linked/associated with nearsightedness, and since I work at a computer all day I figured I should try to maximize the light I get in them, so I started taking more walks and switched to auto mode (less light at night is important for sleep).
Another thing that pushed me to it was Eliezer Yudkowsky made a post about how his wife struggled with seasonal depression and a lightbox didn’t help, but he tried increasing the light by setting up a ton of LEDs around their house and it actually worked for her.

Idk, I feel like an adult. That’s not to say I have everything figured out, but I’ve thought a lot about who I want to be, have done (and continue to do) a lot to get closer to being that person and keep growing, and I’ve successfully navigated a variety of situations and feel confident in my ability to handle unexpected circumstances going forward. I also have a lot of autonomy and when I want something I can usually figure it out or make it happen
Not trying to brag, this probably comes across that way but idk how else to put it 😅
