I really feel like this is an idea that needs to die. Plenty of abusive and hateful men seem to have no problems with getting the type of relationships they want; this just inadvertently promotes the idea that one needs to be a ‘nice guy’ in order to have a relationship. Not every guy who leans left succeeds in wooing a woman, and right wingers complaining about where the women are at are probably in circles with primarily left-leaning women and they need to go look in a church or country concert or something.

I remember people arguing that Linux having two main toolkits were holding it back back in 2000-2010 but then Microsoft invents a few billion UIs just for itself. Even the one big megacorp can’t be bothered to keep things consistent.

Might not be a popular take but having an undefendable position like creationism does not necessarily mean “poorly educated.” There are apologists who have learned proper reasoning skills and use their education to bend reality as much towards their will. I think most people would consider Jesuits and the like to be very educated but also very wrong.

As far as signs that someone is poorly educated, there are people who make up “big words” to give the impression of having a better education to other poorly educated people. Which backfires when someone with an actual large vocabulary walks into the room.

He has his problems but I’m particularly concerned about the “GPL2/3 or later” clauses in a lot of GPL-released software and how the absence of his leadership might compromise it. I’m sure a lot of corporations would like to see a good chunk of GPL’d software end up under an MIT-style license.
