I catch it every so often but I’m not really missing anything anymore. Kinda like reaching for a newspaper for more takes on a story.

I think this might be the year that the void is going to win.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•With the way the world's going, is there even a point to anything anymore?
2·2 years agoExactly. In my current state persistence is key. The question “When do you want to give up the fight?” is a good one. Im hoping that everyone can get a world where they feel mostly happy. Things might go bad quickly but it’s important to remember the small things and create happiness for yourself, even if temporary (it always is).
Shit sucks; deal with it. Also you know be cool to people and they’ll be cool back.

Reddit@lemmy.world•/r/AccidentalRenaissance moderators have all resigned. The subreddit has permanently shut down and moved to Lemmy.
24·2 years agoNow setting up separate user accounts isn’t a terrible idea…

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Keeping your accounts/online identity safe in the age of the fediverse/federated networks
3·2 years agoHa ok this is fun. I do like this idea for most people. You should sign up with as little information as you need. You still must watch what you say.
I do also think you should have a federated business server before you start posting with your real name/loc

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively?
2·2 years agoBro I swear I have been going through a lightweight meltdown after quitting Reddit cold turkey. I’m glad I found this place.
It really wasn’t giving me anything other than a few cool random factoids a day and a lot of distraction. Those were really the only positives any more.
I can already tell that my overall mental health is getting better (you know with some rough patches of course). I’m reading and working on projects again. I accidentally beat the new Zelda game halfway through the game.
On another hand I’m actually sleeping properly… I’m reading real news during lunch, learning Spanish.
Reddit was fucking sucking my soul up or something. I guess it was just such an easy time sink to turn to that I never really got anything done anymore. It feels kinda creepy reflecting back. You’re giving them subscriptions and all that so that they can dark pattern you into sticking around.
Thats what makes this place special. For now it’s just social and people talking with people. Until the advertisers figure this out I’m gonna really enjoy it.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•This feels like a forced reddit detox.
6·3 years agoI used to go to bed after 3am sometimes reading that damned site. I think I did 1:30 last night. I really desperately needed to get away from there. Nothing about it was healthy. I can get my stupid depthhub and TIL style information from Wikipedia. I will miss the professionals chiming in until that starts to happen around here.
I definitely welcome the detox. I think I might have even felt it for real the first couple of days.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?
2·3 years agoReductivist, boring, and accurate. I’m impressed

15·3 years agoChatGPT and Stable Diffusion are the reasons. I’m starting to see commercials that are using highest tier video tech. Just keep pushing.
That’s one community that’s worth supporting.
Yeah heat map seems to be the most generic term for it.
