No his “Linux sucks” talks were more like a roast of people in the Linux world. It was done in good fun and at most just poked fun at people.
He went off the deep end a little while ago.

I was thinking the same. Being dependent on a company that will bend the knee to a hostile government is not sovereignty.

I don’t think this is a good idea. It just adds noise to the process. Granted, there’s nothing magic about 18 years that makes someone mature but it’s our age of majority.
If anything I’d like to limit the franchise to people who understand what they’re voting for l but there isn’t a just way to do that.
I don’t accept the idea that more people voting is necessarily better. I feel the same about mandatory voting rules like Australia has.

I’m almost done the second section of Shroud by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I’m enjoying it so far. At first it seemed almost like Lovecraftian horror but in space, but it started showing more depth as it progresses.

Doing this but not addressing real savings like door to door service or daily service seems pointless. Saving pennies but losing dollars.

I played around with a local LLM to practice my written French. It worked pretty well although I had to play with some settings so it would stop writing essays in response to my comments.

I moved to Montréal last year. Tons of Quebecois will say “fait que” as a sort of filler where you might say “so…” or “anyways…” in English but it always sounds to me like they’re saying Fuck.

I mean, just to flip your point, indigenous people are 5% of the population, why should there be any special attention paid there if 20% don’t deserve it?

Don’t forget idolatry! Worshipping the flag and the country instead of God.

Handmaids Tale was one I didn’t appreciate when I was forced to read it in school but I really enjoyed as an adult. Her MaddAddam series is also excellent.

This is the same guy who said if you stop covid testing, the numbers go down. I’m not sure I would trust any numbers he published anyways.

Younger generations must sacrifice so that boomers can get flyers and coupons.

Ffs, public services aren’t meant to make a profit. They’re a service.
Except Canada Post literally is. It’s been a self sustaining Crown corporation since the 80s. Part of their mandate is to pay for themselves.
Until the internet came along and ruined the market, this was a reasonable option.

They say the art of diplomacy is saying “nice doggie” while searching for a stick.

I’d forgotten they were still on strike.
I hope this leads to a better path for CP, their current path isn’t sustainable. They wanted to make these sorts of changes over a decade ago but political meddling kept it from happening.

Ok, I wasn’t gonna play that anyway, I prefer games that don’t incentivize cheating.

Most obvious answer to me is Canada. Numbers wise the population is smaller but in terms of the culture and general attitudes it’s about as close as you’ll get.
Another attempt at a law “for the children” that won’t protect any children but will make adults less safe online.

This is veteran cops, not military vets I think. Much less sympathetic characters.
It’s unavailable in my area, but I did just finish Shroud by him and really enjoyed it.
