5·1 month agoWhat? No. The Culture is about individual freedom to a high degree, even the AIs (Minds) running the show are individuals that often disagree with each other about how to proceed.

Community Promo@lemmy.ca•A community for the most traumatic superhero story
8·2 months agoIt’s good, but I’d say it comes in at a definite second place to Worm. There’s much more of a focus on trauma and recovery from same, plus a wider cast of characters makes it feel a bit unfocused. Definitely read it if you (1) really enjoyed the angst in Worm and want more like that and (2) are deeply curious about how the world looks post-cataclysm.
As if Trainwiz wasn’t based enough already.

42·4 months agoYeah, it’s even worse than that if you look at the video. She openly calls it a “pedophile church.”
This woman is unhinged. Isn’t she the same person who took a photo shooting an effigy of an illegal immigrant in the head, execution style?

1901·4 months agoThe post title is misleading, and I think looking at the article makes it a lot clearer what is happening and why:
Federal authorities told demonstrators Friday that there would be “no more prayer” in front of or inside the Broadview ICE facility, in a move that mystified local leaders and raised legal questions.
A federal representative delivered the news to a huddle of faith leaders and activists standing outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility Friday, speaking after faith leaders were denied entry to the building for the third time Friday.
In other words, prayer is being used as a form of protest outside the Broadview ICE facility. The solution, if you’re the US government, apparently, is to ban prayer!

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•White House blasts Nobel Committee for not awarding Peace Prize to TrumpEnglish
1151·5 months ago“The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said after the announcement on Friday morning.
“President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives,” Cheung wrote on X. “He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.”
I’m glad we’ve arrived at the ‘indistinguishable from North Korean propaganda’ stage of the second Trump presidency. Really classic stuff.
I fundamentally disagree with this kind of take. If someone is having their ‘oh shit’ moment because a mainstream media figure is being targeted by the regime, that’s good. Don’t dunk on them for not reacting sooner just to make yourself feel cooler than ‘the libs.’

We have come full circle.
“Let’s get pizza and margarita shooters!”
I’m glad people are getting this. When the public screams and cries over ‘unsafe’ AI responses like (supposedly) this one, you end up with useless AI models, like the older versions of Claude that would give you nonsense like ‘sorry, I can’t tell you whether one hundred dollars is more than one hundred yuan, because that could reinforce harmful beliefs about national blah blah blah’

It’s a story because the FBI just fired the agents involved in that investigation, per the article. Patel literally firing people for investigating him.
