Could still be a human, just not a homo sapiens sapiens, but maybe a homo sapiens or homo Neanderthalis, maybe as far back as homo erectus, if it is in the branch of great apes that makes up humans that invented felacio.

1·6 hours agoI use Grayhay since it makes it so all platforms I follow are on there and I can easily download videos if I want, plus follow people like Louis Rossmann on peertube, YouTube, if they have patreon or nebula there too.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Some things were better in the good old days
1·6 hours agoI am aware of both companies and am a customer because i want to encourage repairability however i also know that once the market is saturated with long term easy to fix products that the manufacturer will then not be able to sell new stock for a while, and Framework and Fairphone both have a solution to that by selling individual components for replacement or upgrade, but how much would a dishwasher or washing machine manufacturer be able to make off of O rings, or timing belts or something else cheap and easy to make, when amazon will sell lower quality ones at 1/2 the price that will work temporarily for either the repairman or cheap customer to fix their own machine. The incentive structure sucks for anything but enshitification at the moment.
The woman in the top picture giving water to the starving kid actually happened though, she found the abandoned kid in Africa who was called a witch by his village and was on the verge of death so she adopted him from what I remember. You posting about fictional white saviorsin media has nothing to do with her being a human being and saving g that kid’s life.
The enshittification of everything will eventually lead to some small companies making good quality long lasting appliances I hope, they will make a good name for themselves and have easily repairable parts, but since we live in the real world whirlpool or GE will buy them keep the branding and make it more “intelligent” and easily breakable by adding computer parts that aren’t needed and plastic parts that will fail and not be able to be repaired or replaced.

News@lemmy.world•The US Torpedoed an Unarmed Ship. Who Are the Good Guys Again? | The Walrus
91·1 day agoWhile the war in Iran should not be happening remember that at Rimpac they were doing live fire excercises and not US and Iranian ships attended, this means that while tragic the ship was not unarmed. I keep seeing some factual errors repeated to try and make things sound worse than they are leading to easy dismissal of arguments due to factual errors and complete dismissal of the point.
To graduate highschool in france you need to have taken and passed at least 6 years of one secondary language and 4 of a third, most take English for one of those languages and culturally the place most known for the snobbish behaviour historically is Paris, from supressing other languages in France such as Catalan, Basque, Occitan, Breton, Normand, or Frankish, which have begun to disappear completely over the last 200-300 years in favor of the modern French of Paris. Paris culture has a long history of thinking it is the best culture in France and above others in Europe, the term langue franc or lingua franca comes from Parisian French being the primary international language, calling everything from Haitian, Occitan, Normand, and other similar languages as a Patoi a french, a term meaning a derivative of the French language when. Occitan and Frankish are much older languages than French and in the case of Frankish is a language that evolved into French.
Now with that bit of history and culture out of the way, which shows the suppression of other internal cultures if you want to call it that and erasure of their languages from public use and the elevation of French, which came with the centralization of political and economic power in France in Paris, it lead to a culture within Paris that started with the capital of the monarchy permanently setting up their bureaucratic institutions there then the revolutions starting there, leading to a major cultural centralization there and a sense of superiority compared to the rest of france which endures to this day, be it someone from Lille, Marseille, Toulouse, Dinon, Lyon, or elsewhere the Parisian culture sees those major cities as secondary in cultural additions to prance and Paris as the jewel in the crown. This sort of cultural snobbery led to other regions of France, while maybe less able to speak English in the past than Paris, having a less snobbish attitude than Paris, as well as a more friendly attitude to foreigners as a whole (look up the 1961 Paris Massacre for more context)
For me the variables made it a bit easier
Wasn’t there more to this interaction?
Really, alors vous pouvez sur et certain me dire que la majorité des français hors de Paris sont ceux qui traitent les étrangers qui ne parlent pas le français comme les Parisiens étaient bien connu partout en france pour traiter les étrangers pour des décennies? Cool good to know you know someone therefor confidently incorrect, I can tell you this by having lived there and having family there both in Paris and its suburbs and other places within the country. But please tell me more about france from your perspective.

politics @lemmy.world•’25TH AMENDMENT!!!’ Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls for Trump’s Removal From Office
3·24 hours agoShe has been vocal on “Jewish billionaires controlling the world” the whole George Soros type thing, she talked about Jewish space lazers, and a whole lot of other anti-semitic comments throughout the years. You don’t have to disagree with the religion to be prejudiced against it; for example I think the Torah is very problematic, same as the bible, the Quran, the Bhagavad-gita and many other religious texts, and the religious organizations they spawned, I do not find Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, or other peoples who believe in their respective religions as the problem except in where their beliefs dictate their politics and are used to supress the freedoms and beliefs of others. That point of view by the overly zealous is seen as anti their religion because their religion tends to want to spread and become supreme, as well as fracture under their own weight, but that just means I don’t want for example the 10 commanents in my public schools paid for by my tax dollars. When you start say all (insert religious or ethnic group here) are something or other or that they control the economy, the media, the world, drink the blood of the innocent, or whatever or take the actions of a small minority of them and project it on the whole that is a major issue and prejudice.

37·1 day agoNot a fan of her at all, and her antisemitism has not abaited in the slightest but more infighting withing the oligarghic-fascist regime the better so long as we are able to rebuild after.
Technically it would be easier to break out of gold chains than iron or steel ones, kind of like if you’re wealthy it is easier to get out of all kinds of bad situations and yet the wealthy love to be victims and keep putting themselves in bad situations and drag so many people with them into those situations.
With their partnership with Motorola I’m not so sure.
Say something to prove you’ve never been to france without saying you’ve never been to france.

World News@lemmy.world•JD Vance arrives in Hungary to back Orbán's re-election bidEnglish
2·1 day agoIf that is the case they’ve been making very dumb decisions in the last 10 years for that. Threatening Europe with attacks if they don’t abandon Ukraine has increased military cooperation within the EU and military spending when Trump threatened to not help if they didn’t reach a certain military spending threshold, Trump increasing tarrifs on the EU, the largest importer from and exporter to the US has made EU start investing in open source technologies and to disentangle themselves from much of what has made the US rich since the end of WW2, the US manufacturing and technology sectors, Trump threatening Greenland has raised EU hackles as most of the member states are members of NATO and has forced them to re-evaluate their military partnership with the US on many levels, being one of the main reasons there is not even token support for operations in Iran, Russia’s 3 day military operation in Ukraine and their destruction of cables and potential destruction of pipelines to create price shocks and increase overall prices for Russian oil has led to countries previously very reliant on Russian oil toturn to France for nuclear power, to renewables, or to pay for higher prices for oil from the middle east (with plans to decouple from most oil as soon as they can to stop being forced into political situations over energy costs). That doesn’t sound like them getting weakened but them decoupling their economies and getting over the growing pains to stand on their own against the stupidity of the US and Russia.

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•The oligarchy will whitewash him for public consumption
2·2 days agoBoth Republican presidents we’ve had since 2000 are former members of the board of directors or CEOs of companies before their political aspirations, and both have done really bad things for the economy leading to mass unemployment, both have started wars in the middle east, both have been accused of war crimes (credibly), and both will most likely live out their lives without ever seeing consequences for the things they’ve done come back to them.
While sure that may be the case, nobody is asking for realistic graphics, people are happy with pixel art games and good looking games, if the story and gameplay is there the graphics are secondary.
I’d say they found a carve out for crimes done by the rich and powerful is more inclusive of those who avoid prosecution. Diddy can get out in a little over 2 years, OJ got off, all CEOs of major corporations tend to get away with a lot, not just the white guys but former HP ceo and presidential candidate for the US Carly Fiorina, the CEOs of AMD, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft and more are not white guys and you would find it hard not to say what they’ve done isn’t criminal.

exhausted sigh “does anyone have anything to say that isn’t about Linux?”
“Microslop windows is trash, a waste of resources, poorly optimized, and spies on you.”
