Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
2·7 days agoI would kill for Rhino 3D on Linux…
However, these days I usually prefer OpenSCAD to Grasshopper for parametric.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•"Doomwalking" in one of Bangalore's most upscale neighborhoodsEnglish
4·20 days agoFunny anecdote.
I was only in Bengalore once for a few days but I guess I ended up walking through uncharacteristically nice areas. I would even say better than most urban Indian settings I’ve seen (only a handful of cities).
But definitely worth calling this out and striving for better! Thanks for the share.
Europeans would (will?) flee westward, away from Russian aggression.
Even if most of Europe is party to war, there will still be a front line and limited deep strikes. You don’t just have continent wide war with no place to flee to.
If Russia starts dropping nukes then it won’t be a Europe-problem anyways….
You don’t end up within 500 m of the grey zone using brains, that would be balls…
In fact, even given the propaganda value of this stunt, it seems stupid and reckless.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtube channel has maintained high quality standards over the years?
17·30 days agoCD is the GOAT
I also really like the Corridor Crew for VFX content but it’s not the same tier.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is socialization so hard in the 2020s?
6·2 months agoI suppose.
I was more thinking about where you as friends and share things about your life, rather than message boards with strangers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is socialization so hard in the 2020s?
8·2 months agoHmm, happy to say that I can’t relate.
I’ve always been on the introverted side and with a few social activities per week I’m pretty much maxed out all the time.
Mostly do walk and talk out in the city, maybe stopping somewhere to enjoy a coffee on the terrace. Still making new friends, but now more through kid and dog, rather than school. Keeping in touch and even rekindling some older friendships. There are also a few former colleagues I will meet up with from time to time and additionally my wife’s friends.
Now, in my mid thirties, I’ve even started with a small tabletop gaming gang.
Haven’t been active on social media for nearly 15 years…

Technology@lemmy.world•Your Kindle Can Finally Be Jailbroken Again. [22:00]English
20·3 months agoE-readers have much longer battery life since the hardware is tailored to the use case.
Also better to use a device you may already have than chuck it on the e-waste pile and buy something brand new.
This jailbreak is for people who already have a Kindle, don’t think anyone is suggesting to buy one for this…

Technology@lemmy.world•Futo updates their website, removing logos, clarifying micro grantsEnglish
41·3 months agoSorry, that’s what I grew up calling paid software that was free to use in practice. That effectively how Immich is presented now. There is a button to buy a license which changes to an (optional) supporter badge once purchased.
For the record, I am very happy with the software and paid for a license. I can see why people are bothered with Futo’s language but I personally can’t complain with how they’ve handled the project itself.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What’s something you own that has truly paid for itself?
3·3 months agoDesigning exactly what you need and printing it for pocket change is amazing.
My favorite replacement part was cloning a missing window frame clip from the 80s (original was extruded aluminum).

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Uncircumcised penis owners, did you ever wish you were circumcised?
372·3 months agoOh god no.
Grew up in the US. Heard one girl mention it was gross (she didn’t see mine) and one see it for the first time as was more curious. Never bullied but I also wasn’t swinging my dick out in the open.
Live in Europe now where the script would very much be flipped.
So thankful my parents didn’t mutilate me.
Doesn’t annoy me any more, Windows free for two years now.
It used to annoy me because it would show me screens after updating asking if I want to enable targeted ads, buy office 365 or send MS my location data.
Used to only happen after installing Windows but then then made it after every update…
