US elections are won by memes and sound bites.
This may all well be true, but the bulk of the voting US electorate will never know or care.

Maybe they wore a short skirt, so it was their own fault /s

It’s quite something when I really can’t decide if Joffrey would be a preferable king compared to Trump

It can be hard to pay for online goods with Interac, unfortunately. I’d love to see it become more widely available on e-commerce sites

The point has some validity - the presence of an easy solution allows us to avoid internalizing our lessons.
The same was said about my generation (Millenials) because we were allowed to use a calculator. And quite frankly, it’s true - I am less capable of mental calculation than my boomer parents. Now that I have kids I have forced myself to do more in my head or on paper to set an example, and I have improved.
It’s not that their neurons are inferior or that they cannot learn. It’s that it isn’t worth bothering to remember facts or formulae when every little bit of information is a click away.

I have no hope that the American government will do anything. It reaches too many people, and they aren’t going to punish themselves.
There will be a few head shakes, some words about needing to do better. But the American government does not truly stand on the side of protecting the vulnerable, and I don’t believe it ever will.

I must ask the shoes on people: at what point in the house do the shoes get removed?
I’d expect that you wouldn’t want them in the bedroom or bathroom, getting gravel or dirt in bed. Is it that the main living room for entertaining guests is shoes on, and shoes off is for personal rooms? Or do you have a specific set of indoor shoes? Or do your outdoor shoes go everywhere?

I think a lot of the countries that wear slippers got classified as “shoes on”. I have family in the Caribbean and South America who wear slippers, but never their outdoor shoes.
In my opinion they should be called “shoes off” or at least their own category to differentiate from places that would track mud and gravel throughout their house

We have always been at war with Eastasia

Which translates to “even though I hate most people who look like you, I am surprised to find that you have a redeeming quality”
I’m mixed race and I usually get asked which side I more like. Or a mind boggled “What ARE you?” - if I answer “Canadian” it makes them have to squirm around and say “no, not in that way”

I really like the nut mixes from Roasted Nut Company or Jewels Under the Kilt
It definitely would in rural areas. And aside from birds, it’s helpful for the insect population in any backyard to have the lights off.
Plastic straws were a drop in the bucket, but rather than going back to them, we should be taking more steps forward (ex plastic cutlery, disposable cups, etc). I’d rather see baby steps forward than throw in the towel because the problem is so big
I went to an alligator themed tourist attraction in Florida years ago where a man would hover his hand inside an alligator’s mouth - he claimed that if you don’t touch their palate, the alligator’s bite reflex will not be triggered.
Now this man had about 4 fingers on both of his hands combined, so take from that what you will…

Everything’s coming up corpse plants
For anyone in NE North America, our native Golden Alexander plant can be eaten in a similar way and tastes quite a bit like broccoli. As a bonus, it’s a host plant for black swallowtail butterflies, so it’s a wonderful addition to the garden!

Will anything cause a revolution?
From an outside-the-US perspective, it feels as though every incremental assault the USA’s constitution is met with a bit of tut-tutting and complaining about why elected members don’t fix things, then back to apathy 48 hours later.

Their citizenship is protected by executive order
Well, it’s very simple, don’t you see? When he makes money, it’s not addiction When he makes no money, it’s addiction
