Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What android keyboard app do you use and why?1·9 months agoThat seems interesting, but it feels like it would be slower than thumb-key? How long have you been using it, and how high wpm do you have? For reference, I have used thumb-key for 6 months or so, and can achieve 40-45 wpm
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What android keyboard app do you use and why?2·9 months agoYeah you can’t really “infer” where a letter is, it just takes time to learn the loiations by heart. I think I have used this for 6 months or so, and I’m able to write 40wpm without looking at the keyboard. But damn was it slow in beginning
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•On the Internet, what is a dead giveaway that someone is actually a kid?3·11 months agoIt’s interesting to meet someone else who also struggles with an overuse of parentheses and ellipses (I didn’t know what they were called, thanks for that!).
This is a complete shot in the dark, but do you also happen to be on the spectrum? (I have nothing to base this on expect my theory that overclarification could be more common among neurodivergent people)
Edit: ellipsis -> ellipses

Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•What it's like to be a developer in 20241·1 year agoFor me even kagi didn’t provide a recent doc, but at least there is no garbage-sites (which I have blocked)
Notice that only some of them re-animated? Those are the strong and manly meat eaters, unlike the weak vegans who are too protein-deficient to be able to be resurrected
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the best morning habit/routine you were able to adopt?2·1 year agoMy partner sets two alarms, one an hour earlier when they take the adhd medicine and go back to sleep. It has sped up their bed -> outside time significantly.
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.@slrpnk.net•Beef produces 85 kg CO2e per kg of food. Tofu produces 2.9 kg CO2e per kg of food.17·1 year agoTofu is really easy to prepare poorly, it’s important to season it heavily as bland tofu doesn’t really taste like anything. But this makes tofu extremely versatile, it can even be used in smoothies.
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: To prevent mashed potatoes from being gummy, boil the potatoes whole.2·1 year agoOh it hadn’t occured to me that not only salt causes osmosis. Thank you for the explanation!
Seems like I’m going to boil the potatoes whole in the future, thanks again :)
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: To prevent mashed potatoes from being gummy, boil the potatoes whole.1·1 year agoIsn’t the osmosis minimized when the salt concentration of the water matches that of the potatoes, and thus it shouldn’t affect the saltiness of the end product? Assuming that the water is thrown away of course.
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: To prevent mashed potatoes from being gummy, boil the potatoes whole.2·1 year agoDo you know whether salting the water heavily affects the water absorption rate of cut potatoes? It should reduce it on cell level, but I don’t know if that is the case with starch
Another option is adding canned chickpeas, they work with almost any ramen
Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: You can search (most of?) lemmy as a search engine5·1 year agoI suggest going straight to https://kagi.com, or you can also use your current search engine to find it using query “kagi”.
But to be serious, it’s great. The search results themselves feel like how google used to feel years ago before the enshittification, and there are many useful features, like changing priority of different websites. I for example have removed all pinterest sites, reduced instagram and increased wikipedia weighting. They have a free 200 search trial, give it a go!

Linssiili@sopuli.xyzto Technology@beehaw.org•How Google Alters Search Queries to Get at Your Wallet - WIRED5·2 years agoProbably, since every other post is about search engines, and many of us have been cursing the ever-worsening search results from google, with no real alternative (that actually provides better results than google).
Now that there is finally an ad-free product that performs like Google did 5-10 years ago, of course, I want others to have the same experience and not get frustrated when they can’t find the information they’re seeking.
Give kagi a try, if you haven’t yet.
You need to go to the repositories tab in order to find the repos for chrome and firefox respecively
