How often do you work for 12-14 hours straight without any access to electricity?
If Linux is actually of any interest for you, giving up on it because of a few hours of battery life, feels weird for me. Why not invest in a power bank or make it work some other way.
With that said. You’re obviously free to use whatever you want to. I personally can’t stand Apple and their incredibly barebones, limited and locked down operating system.
Doesn’t those work like Piped, that you get recommendations based on the current video your viewing?
I was talking about the general recommendations that you get based on what you watch over time. :)
No. And the dev(s) have said that they refuse to implement such feature. :(
I don’t know what “higher roast” is, but if you’re talking about dark roast, then 100°C is pure madness!
I brew my dark roast at 85°C using a ceramic Hario V60. I do preheat it though.
With that said, I don’t recommend a specific temperature, but you should perhaps not be afraid to experiment with lower temperature.
And don’t forget to check out Lance Hedrick on YouTube. He have a tons of tips and recommendations for the best brew that you can make with your equipment and your water.

Coffee@lemmy.world•Why use the LLM/"AI" generated banner for the Community?
51·13 hours agoAs I see it, they have multiple options that don’t require any effort:
- Not use a banner at all.
- Ask the community to make one for them.
- Use an image from any of the free services like Unsplash.
There’s no valid reason to use an unethical AI to create some poorly created image.
And there’s no reason for you to behave with such poor manners either. It’s better to either keep quiet if you don’t have anything positive or constrictive to come with, or preferably, be a positive person that lead with good examples.
Please don’t use racist slur.

Technology@lemmy.world•There's still no point in gigabit broadbandEnglish
2·1 day agoI don’t know who this is, but he clearly made some people here upset. :D
The whole post is about him not finding any sensible use for a 1 Gbit Internet connection for himself. He never ever mention any one else.
I really don’t understand how this can be offensive for anyone else. Why is he not allowed to have an option about himself?
PS. I do believe that the title is somewhat click-bait though.
There’s always Devuan if you want Debian before Debian moved to systemd.

Privacy@programming.dev•Half of parents report tracking their adult kids, and 1 in 4 trackers say it can increase their anxiety
12·1 day agoAnd 100% of the parents needs to stop using big tech. They’re parents and they can’t do dumb shit and not expect their kids to do the same thing as them.
I can also recommend Linux Mint. It’s a great general purpose option for both beginners and experienced users.

5·2 days agoHelium should be fine. They’re, to my understanding, a fork of ungoogled-chromium, and they seem to proxy all calls to Google for you. It shold be a safe enough web browser for ‘regular’ people who care about their privacy.

10·2 days agoIt does, and there’s nothing you can do about it either, other than, obviously, switching to an alternative web browser.

Privacy@programming.dev•Android verification is coming: Google confirms timeline and supported app stores - Ars Technica
4·3 days agoI believe it’s mainly going to affect the regular users who use regular Google Android, for the simple reason that people who understand this is either power users or developers. The developers is most likely going to a) quit it all together or b) move exclusively to proper alternatives like F-Droid.
For the very reason that I, and power users, is not relying on any Google services, this is not really going to effect us at all.
It’s refreshing to see people who can laugh at their own expense. The world need more people like you!
That’s an old copypasta. It never happened. And the boy in the original story was from Venezuela, and it was his uncle who helped him. Not that it really matters.
Edit: Spelling.

Cool. I’ll check it out!
