- don’t buy the junk.
- don’t snack, you’re not 6 months old to need to eat at 3 hours interval.
- during the transition period try to find alternatives like carrot sticks or whatever.
- don’t eat at TV or equivalent, eat only at the dinning table when you decide and without distractions.
Good luck
Gerula@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you help somebody that always says they're bored?31·1 year agoA continuous boredom is actually more like a feeling of emptynes and a lack of energy to engage. You cannot help someone fill the emotional emptiness they are feeling, you don’t even know the cause. And it leads only to codependency.
Even if it’s a cry for help you can show them your perspective but it’s their job to heal and get out of the “pit” they are into.
Gerula@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you help somebody that always says they're bored?406·1 year agoYou don’t. Unless your job is to entertain this person otherwise it’s his/hers problem. If by any chance this this person is putting the responsibility of his/hers emotional state on your shoulders and asking you to do something, it’s not ok and is an attempt of manipulation.

Gerula@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•People not from English-speaking countries, was it possible to watch cartoons in English subbed?1·1 year agoWell in the 90s in Eater Europe we first had cable TV without subs or dub, just the original track (English, German, Italian, Spanish) so we had to learn the language just watching the shows trying to understand. Then subs started to be common and almost no dub. Then in late 2000s dubing started to be the norm for animations but movies are still subed and nobody likes dubed movies.

I think you’re referring to generalisations in the sense of cognitive distortions, but this is not the case. The saying merely calls for one to be completely dedicated to whatever task he undertakes in order to maximize his chances of success. Having doubts and starting to hatch a plan B actually takes resources (mental or emotional) from realisation of the actual task.
When you say: I’ll try to … you’re actually stating your doubts about you capability to successfully do whatever task from the beginning. So you’ve already defined what failure is and what to do in that case. But you haven’t even begin the task and the journey that comes with the realisation of it. You haven’t even reach the first difficulties, the first hurdles.
I hope you know that The Sith is a fictional construct :)
Gerula@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What popular quote are you tired of hearing?71·2 years agoNo, it’s not about caring or not about the consequences.
The ideea is to do something, anything with full commitment, do it as you know you’re going to be successful. This way you give 100% and you have the best chances to succeed.
If you just try something then from the start your mentally taking in consideration the possibility of failure and you’re preparing for that scenario and searching for the signs of it, which means you’re not 100% invested in the success of the task itself so the chances of success are smaller.
And I’m not trying to sell to you anything. I never said you can stop working. I never said you can eat dirt.
You can stop working only if someone else has already worked for you accumulating value so you can consume now. Even a big business if going forward only through work. The work of you or of your forefathers that you consume now but someone, sometime had to work.
I’m not coerced, I choose to. I could very well live off the land. The only difference would be the life standard and what I can afford, but hey smartphones, internet and restaurants are a first world luxuries not real life needs.
It cannot be! People are working for fun:
“love what you do and you would not work a day” , right!? /s
Because if FOSS exist he imagines that also people would like to do real actual work just for fun!
I asked sapient_cogbag who would do the automation work he likes to be implemented? Because someone has to get up in the morning and actually do that work, it doesn’t grow on it’s own.
And you’re asking me about threats of starvation and homelessness … I don’t get it …
I was born in a comunist society and can wholeheartedly tell you (I presume you are from US or a western country): you don’t even know or can imagine what inefficient is :)
This is the way!
