  • On the one hand, his posts contain a non-negligible number of “boomer” style memes (could be stuff like wife bad, targeted at minorities, vegans, whatever - not necessarily actual examples, just trying to define “boomer” humour), and some of them end up getting downvoted into negatives.

On the other hand, he’s bringing content to Lemmy regularly. I’m not saying that’s enough on its own, but I can complain all day about niche communities being dead/empty, and then I don’t post shit. He does. More people should do that.

    Just do it right, though.

Oh, whether it’s a bot or not: I’m not saying definitely not, but at least the posting history is showing changes. Started putting an NSFW tag on everything lately (probably to boost engagement, because wow, maybe boobs), and it seems like it stopped. Could still be experiments with a bot account, but there’s that.

  • We had a fighting game on NES. Japanese game, and we didn’t even speak English (okay, maybe a few words), let alone Japanese.

There was literally nothing to quote in my search, apart from just using descriptions. It was frustrating, because otherwise it was one of the best NES games I have played.

Years later I somehow ran into it. It was something like Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu.

  • Elections in my country. And you can imagine my general level of excitement if this is the thing I’m the most excited about.

But this fucker has been in his position for 15 years now, polarising society, being Putler’s buttplug, undermining the EU and the sanctions, protecting pedos, even trying to ban Pride, and selling out the country to China/Russia. This is pretty much the last hope to do something against that, since he’s been eroding democracy and installing puppets everywhere while moving all the country’s money to places he has personal control of.

And the only opposition runner who actually has realistic chance against him is also rather shady/sus. And this is the best thing we got.

  • Why did you push so hard to get family to chat?

Where… where did you get this from? I didn’t push so hard to get my family to chat. In fact, I didn’t push my family to chat. In fact, I wasn’t even the one creating the group, but when most of my family is there already, and I get added to the chat I won’t leave it just because I refuse to. And by the time I had WhatsApp already.

(EDIT: I read back and I kind of understand why you thought so. We got the parents to use same platform once most people were in it already. I didn’t take part in creating the group or choosing the platform, but my siblings and I put some effort in getting our parents to use the same thing, indeed.)

Not out of personal choice. That was the means to communicate at work. I’m glad if it’s not required by your employer, but that was a requirement where I work. It’s like using whatever app/program/tool at work: if that’s what they use for communication (and expect you to do the same), you can’t just say “I won’t partake, everyone can bugger off”.

I’m happy if you have the freedom to pick your own tools for everything, but not everyone can. It doesn’t mean I like it or that I support it.
