It’s going to get a lot worse with the recent pay to post scheme they copied from Twitter 🥴
$5 a month to spend your time with the neck beards and power tripping mods? 🤢
At least on this side most people here aren’t addicted to social media imo
I feel like we’re in it lately with: the lab grown meat, 3D printing building and drones, CRISPR technology, and even something as “basic” as our smartphones.
At this point the only thing that I’m waiting for is space travel 😎
Edit: ugh, just read the rest of the responses and people are such bummers
That’s the struggle at first, getting a deluge of users that keep people both entertained, AND posting content.
Unfortunately I don’t think we’ve reached that number of users yet and it throws us into a vicious cycle of losing users who were also posters.
I’m not sure how to grow it on our end, other than continuing to contribute to the communities, but I do know that if Reddit keeps following Elon’s business decisions, they may end up losing many users as well.
The kids actually figured out how to log in and disable the cameras or mute notifications and then delete memory 🥴
They defederated from dbzero which I believe has other large ‘communities’
Tankies are like cockroaches
I have many thoughts
It helped me figure out how to find things on the Internet that interest me.
I’ve actually gotten an ex-boyfriend and a free dentist appointment out of Reddit, but it was because I was part of small niche groups that helped me connect with them.
It’s something I hope as Lemmy grows, it’ll bring those smaller niche groups with them as well. Otherwise, it’s one less resource I have available.
Less time on social media overall, but still getting about the same info I would get from Reddit, less overall “intersubreddit drama.”
Things to note:
The company, which makes most of its money from advertising, has struggled to draw new ad commitments under Musk’s ownership in part because brands are concerned about Musk’s approach to content moderation. The advertising industry is also in a slump, and several media companies have begun offering brands discounts.
So it seems like the discounting is an industry wide thing
X also warned advertisers that beginning Aug. 7, brands’ accounts will lose their verification—a gold check mark that indicates their account truly represents their brand—if they haven’t spent at least $1,000 on ads in the previous 30 days or $6,000 on ads in the previous 180 days, according to the email.
And the trusted method of giving advertisers ultimatums for your dying platform lol

Apparently we’re to call it an “X”. A retweet will not be an “rxm” or some stupid nonsense like that
I’ve had a better experience than Twitter, no rate limits or randomly getting suspended for being a leftie 🥴
I remember a Finnish user posted a racist meme showing brown immigrants as savages.
The rest of the week was the subreddit shitting on Finnish people lol
I feel like there’s a lot more queer focused instances available. Tbh that would most likely make it easier for queer people, and those more accepting of them, to easily and comfortably move to an instance.
ALSO, makes it that much easier to get banned if you’re even slightly conservative imo. Imo we won’t see many conservatives until we get a Steven Crowder or Daily Wire Instance.
Asia and the Pacific - 1.582 million registered
Africa - 715,089 registered
Europe - 570,534 registered
Middle East and North Africa - 372,461 registered
Americas - 2,460 registered
These are really interesting numbers, I wonder if it has to do with immigration policies
I think I understand what you mean lol.
Lately for me it’s been: Mass Effect legendary edition, Mount & Blade 2, Crusader Kings 3, Dishonored 1 and 2, and Hitman 3.
