Technology@lemmy.world•Chat Control isn’t dead, Denmark has a new proposal − here’s all we knowEnglish
1·2 months agoNot true What happened is that the state supported postal service company, Post Nord, will no longer deliver letters however some other private company which was already delivering other packages, will start delivering letters instead of Post Nord.
For me Fairphone has been good. I bought my fp3 on release in 2019 for about 400 euro and it is still going strong today, 6 years later (I am in fact using it right now)
Not to say that there haven’t been software problems at all but it has not been that bad and was fixed over time.
It is not that working shouldn’t give anything beyond what you get for not working, but that everyone should have access to money to live for.
I am from Denmark and here you earn a fair living wage for most jobs and you have plenty of opportunity to get a high paying job. But for those who are unable to work or work as much or for some other reason are unemployed, they still get paid a small amount of money that they can live for and still has access to things like free health care and free education.
So if you “sacrifice a substantial part of your life” to make a lot of money, you can do that and earn the luxury you get from that. The system just ensures that everyone gets enough to live for, whether they are working or not.
Wait what is the problem with systemd?

2·3 months agoWe really do. If you check the stop chat control website, most of our MEP’s are against however the government still really pushing for it.
I feel like it wouldn’t be too bad in itself to have some amount of restriction to social media platforms for kids, but if the only way to implement that is by introducing privacy-ruining age verification for everyone, the positive is greatly outweighed by the negative imo

183·7 months agoI have seen a video where they show the phone and the text censoring and screenshots being taken. I can’t remember where but might have been BBC’s YouTube channel or something like that.
I started using Linux this year. I first tried out Debian, but then switched to mint. Has been very happy with mint every since, so I don’t think I will switch again in the near future.

Games@lemmy.world•6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?English
18·9 months agoSwitched to Linux (mint) recently.
All my games run (almost) perfect and (almost) everything has been working perfectly. Overall it is much nicer than Windows and isn’t that hard getting used to.
Would much recommend!
