The Soviet Union was, if not a traditional dictatorship, absolutely a totalitarian autocracy. Stalin was a brutal dictator and his successors were chosen by the communist party. Elections in the USSR were for show.

Life was miserable almost from the start of the Bolshevik revolution for most people. The USSR’s implementation of communism was so bad, it’s become cliche.

That is absolutely why it was done.

People who habitually use speaker phones do not understand the concept of “inside voice” that everyone else learned in 1st grade.

And those people should be sent to The Hell of Infinite Screaming Babies.

Which is also why socialism will never work. Humans are piss poor at evaluating the common good and making decisions collectively (see also: the last US election.)

The difference in speed is familiarity, not some inherent efficiency gain by typing commands into the cli.

There are plenty of Trump supporters here. Every comment from someone who implies one shouldn’t vote for Harris because of the Israel-Gaza war is likely someone trying to suppress Democrat turnout. Single issue voting is the only way the GOP ever win.
