  • Idk I don’t mind that the very poor that don’t have phones still have an option to make phone calls. I know a lot of victims of abuse use them as a way to make phone calls that aren’t monitored by their abusive partner. The homeless can use them, or maybe your phone died. I don’t recall seeing ads on them but I’m not exactly looking out for payphones.

Plus I’d hardly can a phone call “ageing technology”. I mean yes it’s an old technology, but still very relevant especially for those that don’t have other means of contact

  • I think the biggest issues with cars are they are big, fuel-inefficient, and demand a ton of space because of their size (think how much land car parks take up). They’re also incredibly deadly to pedestrians.

Car drivers don’t really care if they hit someone (not really), cars are so big and so safe that deep down they know they’re likely safe. A bike rider does NOT want to hit anyone because the bike rider knows the result is disastrous, so bike riders pay way more attention and are far more aware of their surroundings.

You can park 3 bikes in a single car park space, the fuel used to get those 3 bikes there is similar to what a single car would use. But those bikes moved 3 people instead of 1.

Motorbikes are far superior to cars on all these metrics. Obviously nothing is going to be better than mass public transit, but in the real world where a lot of places have really bad public transit, I think motorcycles are a better alternative to cars.

  • Take control of you life, be the person you want to be.

It’s easier said than done, but if I can do it, anyone can.

I wanted a lot of things for myself when I was younger, and like you, it was purely aspirational, I wasn’t actually doing anything about it and I was incredibly unhappy.

It took a long time, and a lot of introspection but I’m currently the person younger me could only dream of being.

I grew up homeless, but I’ve worked my ass off to buy a house. I grew up lonely thinking nobody would love me, and now I have an incredible wife. I grew up idolizing musicians and now I’m a bad drummer (but I enjoy it).

Make plans. Think about what you want your life to be and make reasonable plans on how you can make it happen.

Your list seems extremely doable, play games, watch movies. I can’t imagine what’s stopping you from that but plan it out of you need to. Maybe Sunday night can be a movie night? Idk whatever works for you.

Join a gym. Like actually pick a gym and sign up. Once you start paying for it, you’d be an idiot to not actually go, so you’ll go.

A part of it is holding yourself accountable. Maybe you don’t feel like going to the gym. Go anyway. Maybe you don’t feel like watching a movie, sometimes you have to force it just so you can look back at yourself and be proud that you tried, that you put in the effort to be the person you want to be.

It’s not easy to live up to your own expectations, but I promise the effort it takes is always worth it.

Of course I don’t know your situation. But reading your post reminded me of a younger me and I just wanted you to know you can do it. You can live your best life and you deserve it

  • This was a festival called “good things” this was photo was taken at the Melbourne show a couple days ago.

But yeah as the other person said. It improves efficiency. You can basically have 1 area (2 stages) where the live music never stops because bands play alternate stages. They setup one stage while the other stage has someone playing and alternate all day.

This has been standard for as long as I’ve been going to festivals.

This was stages 3 and 4. Stages 1 and 2 had the same layout

  • I really like the uncle Ben’s tek theoretically.

Inject your spores or liquid culture into bags of microwavable brown rice (maybe 1cc per bag), snip the corner off and seal with micropore tape.

It’s already at an appropriate moisture content and is sterile.

Then spawn to bulk as normal.

Theoretically speaking, this is how I’d do it, and I’d have a lot of success with it. Although I don’t use the uncle Ben’s rice, i find it’s a bit too wet. Use a cheaper store brand, they’re a little drier and work perfectly.

  • This is a good chance to self reflect.

EVERYONE deserves privacy. Even your enemies.

If one group of people can be labelled fascists and are therefore no longer entitled to privacy (from your example), what is stopping someone from labelling you a fascist and ending your right to privacy?

I’ll leave you with this poem, First They Came by Pastor Martin Niemöller: First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me

  • Downloading isn’t stealing??? Are you delusional? It is in this case. Just because the law doesn’t recognise it is irrelevant, I’m not talking about legality, I’m talking about the ethics of ripping off small, underpaid artists.

Download a game, or a movie, or an album without the required license. That’s piracy.

If I download a Disney movie, and use clips of it in my game, how do you think a court case would go?

Or if I download idk, a Taylor Swift album and use that in my game without a license, do you think the law would agree with me or Taylor Swift?

And my only excuse is “I couldn’t afford to make my own music so I used yours”?

Using ai is no different. You’re taking someone else’s work, not paying for it, and using it in your training model without permission.

Just because they may have no ill intent is irrelevant, it only speaks to their ignorance on the matter.

“I’m sorry officer I didn’t mean to speed, I had no ill intent”. Ok, you’re still getting a ticket. Ignorance is no excuse.
