The film, with the working title Pawn Shop, centers on an Antifa siege of a Minneapolis pawn shop amid anti-ICE unrest. On one side: an ICE agent joined by a group of pawn-shop employees and customers. On the other: a rabble of progressive protesters, and eventually a bloodthirsty MS-13 death squad, both intent on rescuing a Hispanic man detained by ICE. It plays out exactly how you’d expect it would.
The film’s first minutes will likely get the most attention. As Pawn Shop opens, two ICE agents in Minneapolis arrest the Latino man, later revealed to be an MS-13 boss. Dimwitted liberal activists film and scuffle with the agents as they try to take their suspect away.
Then the film’s Renée Good stand-in enters, slamming her Subaru into the ICE van. Described with the subtlety of a brick as “MELANIE (40), a fat blue-hair,” the woman, blasting NPR, revs up again and fatally hits ICE agent “Juan” with her car. Then his ICE partner, “Mike,” shoots her in a justifiable killing.

Ha! That’s genuinely hilarious. I hope you’re a screenwriter.
Lord, I wish. Alas, I am but a humble janitor at a preschool.
Just saw that documentary about Janitors stating Peter Dinklage.
The film is, at its core, about the erasure of invisible labor. A man whose name is never spoken on camera, whose body is disposed of like the waste he handled, whose only tool is a mop.
The mutation, the green skin, the mop-wielding violence, that’s subtext. It’s the film’s way of saying: this is what happens when a janitor is finally seen. The corporate villain, the band, the hostage rescue, the serum, all of it is just the set dressing of a workplace where the person on the floor is the only one who actually keeps things running, and the company’s answer to that is a waste pit.
(Just kidding, it’s a hilarious gorefest)
I saw the old Troma Toxic Avenger years ago. Is the Peter Dinklage one good?
I may have been somewhat inTOXICated myself when watching it, but as a fan of camp / old scifi I found it entertaining, hard to re capture the true raw nonsense of the original, but it’s a modern remake…
Schlock and awe.
So, this time, was it a real head under the tire of a Camaro, or just a different kind of melon?
Okay, so now I must insist.
Insist?
Yes. Go write a screenplay. It’ll be great!
