Thats the neat part about methane, it gets reabsorbed really quickly (I thinks it a couple decades), and warms more than CO2. So by fixing leaks, you are basically making the planet colder on the short term. (It wont get colder, but it is a short term solution, compared to CO2, that takes centuries to get reabsorbed)
