      They are still around. This specific incident happened to a local PBS broadcaster, and it is only the local programming that was lost. Still sad, though

      You can blame the storage provider but ultimately it’s their fault. Anyone who takes archiving serious knows that you need at least 3 backups of your archive in different locations for cases like this.

        They should have made better decisions, but if they paid a middleman to outsource their storage to third company and the middleman goes out of business without having any terms with the storage provider regarding the data rights of their clients, then that sounds like somebody committed fraud and should face consequences
