    what i don’t get is why the focus is on permanent DST, i thought permanent standard time would be better

      Permanent standard time is objectively better, if anyone bothered to listen to the experts the opinion is clear. Last time we tried permanent dst it didn’t last through the first winter, because people hated it

      Plus it’s been studied, having groggy people driving to work in the dark causes a lot more accidents than driving home in the dark

      So much of the country is dark at 5pm on standard time. With the work day centered around 9-5, having some daylight at the end of the day would be nice. I always thought the solution would be making the work day center on 8-4, but work til the sun goes down has been engrained in our society for a long time.
