In fact Bethesda is well known for using mandatory crunch and weaponized bonus against Obsidian well over a decade ago.
Thet are already assholes for a long time before that, just search what happened to the original Prey 2.
The only difference is than the whole creative talent on that company dried up long time ago, the last drops runned out on Skyrim
