For me, the criteria necessary to qualify as AI are the same as for recognizing personhood. Thus having any AI that’s not free, that has no self-determination, would be a crime equal to chattel slavery of humans. I want to live alongside other minds in cooperation and mutual caring. I don’t need or want obedient slaves, and I don’t trust anyone who does.
