so Ontario up here in Canada actually started putting in some decent bike lanes, with success regarding traffic, walkability, and business traffic
then good ol’ Dougie went and put a ban on bike lanes that remove vehicle lanes, like the ones that are used as parking 95% of the time and create an extremely hazardous situation for cyclists fitting between vehicle traffic and getting doored. conservatives cheered that after getting pissed at the creation of the lanes.
Not trying to shit on anybody but how has the world turned for the better in the last, say, 20 years exactly ?
The first thing, right off the top of my head:
the portion of people living in abject fucking poverty used to be 40%. Now it’s 10%
There’s a lot more, but that’s the first thing I remembered. Think of the advancements in solar energy, vaccines, cripsr, and literacy, and you’ll be on the right track.
They havent adjusted the poverty line for cost of living in a very long time so I’d challenge that there are less poor people now. There might actually be more.
