In the idiotic rush of the last century, I think one of the greatest losses has been depth of self awareness and understanding of ourselves in relation to others…
I could not agree more
Can anybody eli5? I like the art and the words seem deep on first blush but my brain is too smooth to understand what it means
Be nice to people. They might not be able to be nice back. You should still be nice to them.
You can put your best foot forward and do everything right and it will not mater if the other person is not healthy enough to do the same
Do your best, but it is not a failing on your part if you do your best and someone still gets mad at you, or is unable to understand you, etc.
This is an overly simplistic way of putting it but I think it helps get the main thrust across. I wish I could remember an old buddhist quote that feels really related that I think would also be helpful but I cant :/ searching just turns up a bunch of bland Pinterest quote garbage lol
Hope this helps :)
In my industry it’s “meet people where they are.” All well and good if you know yourself, have the emotional intelligence, resilience, resources to do so. But even in the helper fields you can see people who lack in those things and do a disservice to the people they are supposed to be helping OR can only help so far because they too have some growing to do.
