Wonder if the toilet design might also play a part.

If you’re in a country with a siphonic toilet, where the water level is really high, you probably don’t want to sit down and start dipping into the toilet water, and if you’re in a country with squat toilets, you can’t really sit on the toilet to urinate either.

@T156 @z3n0x this is not something I had considered. I’m from the USA, we’ve got the best toilets to sit on for our pee pees and poo poos. Would love some insight into what the equivalent for the squat toilet regions.

Was raised as a “Sitzpinkler” (OPs name checks out). Every time my mother found urine stains, we (3 sons) had to clean the Bathroom.

Standing is only for public or outside. If it’s your own damn home, take a load off while you’re dumping your load, for the love of life.

Yep, default mode for me too… at home.

NOT on public toilets though… I’m sorry gentlemen, I just can’t trust you all and feel safe that I’m not sitting on ten gallons of dried-up stranger urine. Public toilets are a stand-and-go every time.

It’s fine and all, but it can’t beat a standing yard piss.

Yeah, I have been made fun of for it, but taking a break to pee by sitting down and aiming down into a low water bowl is so relaxing.

Yeah, with a light tinkle, sure. But when power-pissing that close to the porcelain and you get the spoon-under-watertap-effect.
