there’s the obvious downsides that go with any explicit online space. I just started exploring them out of curiosity/horny boredom and it seems like there’s some aspects of these spaces that are more extreme than some others.

One massive issue I see across all of em are privacy and safety concerns. Not even from the requirement to give your ID to some random mook on Discord, but beyond that… You have folks that inherently see one another as just toys rather than people. Playthings… if you will. Moreover, its pure objectification of any potentially vulnerable person within those servers that becomes problematic very quickly.
to add onto this, there’s a lot of just sharing GIFs and images back and forth. and anyone with a refined sense of taste is going to have found more convenient archives of pornography.
So it seems like a lot of the target audience is the people who are just now realizing the brain feelings they can achieve from pornography (ie children).
Oh yeah, that’s the other thing. Despite the “rigorous” ID verification, I see so many folks who are somehow exempt from it, chatting and such, only to be found out to be underage. It immediately red-flags that (or any of those) server for me and I am immediately gone. I truthfully don’t understand (beyond the plethora of groomers on Discord) why folks would be willing to allow, let alone actively perpetuate the flocks of underage folks surrounding this.
This is why I hate Discord for NSFW, I burned down (two SFW) Discord servers, and left another that I was in-charge of…because I would rather not be in-charge of that mess.
It’s hard to hide the actual NSFW ones, because they are just there, with whatever NSFW images they have on them, and I briefly tried a vore one. I could not stay long enough to even ask questions, due to living with family (fml).
There was an invite from a certain woman that started an NSFW Dicord over here, again, good luck joining that with how overt the servers are, and some of us could get stonned for watching porn (not literally here, but it’s pretty bad).
The public kink discord servers are all trash - a few exist to filter out folks before inviting the sane ones to the decent spaces, but even those well moderated ones are all just full of people looking to sext or cam and little actual interactions beyond that.
They’re fucking awful, entering one and seeing that it’s organised like some sort of pay to play video game gives you a massive sense of ‘wtf are we even doing here?’ And snaps you straight out of horny time.
I can share my experiences, when i was looking for nsfw communities where there would be conversations/discussions around topics of kink/power exchange etc. it was a difficult search. Most nsfw discord guilds lack a well defined purpose, they are often built around the pursuit of quick gratification rather than exploring kinks/sexuality in a more comprehensive way. There were a few healthy communities but they were in a different part of the world and the cultural differences were huge. I wish people would build communities around conversations instead of just sharing porn/gifs.

The ones I found and used, are servers where people chat nonsense and when you say hi they will ignore you, and servers where once you join and add roles, onlyfans and random people will message you in exchange for money. Also some servers won’t let you in, until you provide ID! Which I’m not comfortable of sharing my ID with strangers. Most of the servers say +18 only, but It feels that most of them are teenagers college or university.
