After the Clone Wars, Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.
There’s some deep irony in the fact that his whole post-Phantom-Menance character arc was “too angry to die” and how Disney is too greedy to let him die. They’ve brought him back so many times. I realize this is before his final death on Tatooine, but still crazy how determined they are to revisit these already over-explored characters rather than take a chance on something new and exciting (like an Old Republic era TV show).
I’m pretty sure this series is an attempt to salvage his crime lord material that was teased in the Solo movie but dropped after the movie bombed
I do think him coming back after phantom menace was bizarre, but he became a much more interesting character through the clone wars.
I’m happy to watch the series, though I really would love either an Old Republic show or a show which has completely self contained individual episodes which jump around to all eras/factions/etc to showcase different stories. Almost like a black mirror take on the Star Wars universe.
that would be great as well but you’re forgetting rule #1 of Disney star wars: milk characters to death…
