Hi! I’m new to Lemmy and I’m looking for a friend to get to know and chat with every day. I’m 27 years old from the Canadian prairies (MST), a complete homebody, and my hobbies include reading, drawing, baking, and watching things. I also love nature and am passionate about biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, even though I’m not really an outdoorsy or adventurous person.

Here are some photos of me and stuff I like to do: https://imgur.com/a/WXNxG2u. I hate taking photos of myself so please don’t ask me for pics when we get to chatting, but if appearance is important to you, there you go, that’s me. You can decide whether you’d like to talk to me based off those photos.

As a conversation starter I’d love to hear all about your 2026 resolutions. Maybe we can even work on ours together! Or if you’re not a goal setter, tell me about the last rabbit hole you tumbled into. Mine was a true crime case about the murder of Boston police officer John O’Keefe. If neither of those work, feel free to take the lead and direct our conversation as you please.

Thank you! 🙂

Just going to throw out a random book recommendation because I’ve enjoyed it so far: Katabasis, by RF Kuang. A graduate student in analytic magic and her rival descend into Hell to try to find their horrible thesis advisor to see about bringing him back from the dead.

I’ve heard of Katabasis! RF Kuang is one of those authors I hear a lot about, but she seems to come with polarizing opinions. Katabasis is the one that appeals to me most out of all of her work so far. If you’ve read her other books, what did you think?

I haven’t - ran across this one by chance and picked it up as an audiobook for an eight hour drive. I didn’t stop it to listen to anything else the whole way!
